Having a Geforce 9800m, I used to be able to play games in stereoscopic 3D but defined by nVidia as 3D Vision Discover. What is the lastest combination of drivers that would allow me to do this? Newer drivers say my monitor isnt supported, but I want it anyway. Thanks.

You're supposed to have at least 120hz refresh rate screens for it to work.

No, it used to be with certain driver combination and a little registry change, where you could use it regardless.

*If its any consolation, source games see my refresh rate at 120 hz even tho it is 60.

Ha, I do this as well with a 60 Hz monitor and the red/blue 3D glasses.

It works with any 19x.xx driver (doesn't work with the 256 drivers for me) if you get this from the NVIDIA website and install the stereo driver (StereoE.exe in the Stereo folder).

Your NVIDIA Control Panel will now have a Stereoscopic 3D tree. Enjoy.

Since the 88M, 98M, 2xxM are all based on the same G92 core I don't see why it shouldn't work. What's the harm in trying (except a 330 MB download)?

My friend got a 87m SLI. Any chances of this working in that?

its sort of 3D but not full 3D... all 9000 and 200 series card should have no problems.. 8000 ones might.. best to read up on NVDIA website for supported cards.

Sort of 3D? How? Depth is quite apparent to me. Quite embarrassingly, I've touched my monitor screen while trying to see if I can reach into the screen to touch that building in the distance in Burnout Paradise.

Since people still seem to be having trouble, I repeat:
Desktop cards starting from the 8800GT are supported, so is the 9600GT, so the 8800M series is also capable enough for 3D.

I am mighty interested in trying this 3D thing on my lappy.

What do I need? I think I have a pair of 3D glasses kinda like the ones used in movie theaters, are those the ones I need?

If they're not red/blue, this won't work. Theatre glasses are usually polarised, so your screen/projector needs to be capable of displaying such light. I doubt your laptop has a polarised screen.

Also, this 3D Vision Discover only works if I connect an external monitor; the Stereoscopic 3D option is not available if my laptop screen is being used.

Not for me. I have been playing portal on my laptop's screen. However, if you do play on an external monitor, make sure that dynamic contrast is disabled.
