All futuremark benchmarks are Windows only. Make sure you have XP or Vista installed on your mac before running them.

yeah. obviously you will need windows to run windows only software.

i didn't quite realize the crux of the issue there.

Are there any benchmark programs for Mac? Not counting bootup times... :p

Why do you need them, after all, Macs just work. :)

Honestly though Apple, their marketing machine, and their fans have spent a lifetime trying to convince people it's about actual use, not benchmarks (Because benchmarks don't matter), so it's little surprise there are none of any worth.

There's really nothing on a Mac that needs a lot of 3D performance so there aren't any graphics benchmarks like you'd find for Windows.

I believe Geekbench is often used as a benchmark for macs.

Hi, I am asked to advise a mac g4 owner what new graphics card to get. She now has the radeon 9000 pro mac edition.

My mobility radeon hd 3650 on thinkpad T500 has a 3dmark06 score just under 4000 and is adequate for the game we play.

Surely there must be some way of comparing Mac and Windows GPU performance? If not 3DMark06 what other benchmarks/ratings/methods could be used?

Umm, you could try www.xbench.com . I don't know if it's any good, but I've used it once or twice.
