Basically my e6600 stock gets a score of 3900-4000.

My ddr2 8600m at stock gets around an 850. Overclocked it gets 1080. Vantage score is around P1350.

Ah Vantage... what a load of crap you turned out to be. You pay the same as the previous bench, but get less tests, and what you do get looks worse (test 1... WTF were they thinking????). Even better.. even the paid version has ads!! If I am paying, I should NOT have ads...

There are tons of things going on in test 1. Theirs a good amount of dynamic lights and shadows, and advanced water and clothe rendering. Have you ever thought that if it doesn;t loook so good why is bringing most of the high end gpus to its knees? Pay closer to atttention to detail. The second test is rendering all of those asteroids and stars with real volume and parallax mapping for the textures.

What were you running test one on? Granted I personally didnt care for the art direction, but some of the things going on in that test are pretty amazing, check out the real time reflections on the helmets, the light scatter effects and the advanced physics, . Vantage is a going to get a undeserved bad rap for a while because 1, god forbid someone wants to be paid for their work, and 2 the vista haters, and the list of valid reasons for vista hating has pretty much dried up for the most part imho.

After saying that, no I havent bought it, I ran it, and dont feel the need to run it again till I have a more capeable card, chances are most mid-high to high end cards will come with the basic or even advanced copy bundled with the cards, kinda thinking most sapphires will for some strange reason, and likely others will follow suit. Its a tool for DX10 and current hardware, Dx10 is the future, and I for one would have been miffed if it was coded in DX9, 05 and 06 were the defacto dx9 benchmarks, DX9 is on the way out, as 8,7,6 were before, personally I cant wait till DX10 is required by top tier titles, some of the things demonstrated by vantage are trule remarkable and something to look forward to. As for the $7, it aint much, and a lot of work goes into it, kinda like all the folks that balk at paying a $5 cover for a band, then turn around and complain that local music scene is dead....
