i did not alter the settings for 3dmark06. using 174.31 drivers from Dell. As you can see, i even reformated my comp.
Before reformat, my score was around 800 -1000.

First Try Updating your GFX Driver from Laptopvideo2go.com bro then re-run the 3dmark06 and also it seems you're using Vista Basic ?
-
mine is vista home premium. the latest driver for vista 32bit is v167.45, gonna try and post the results. thx for the reply.
-
same boat as you.. only seem to be getting 900+ with 174.31 and 1092 with 174.51
weird?
btw did you purchase the full version of 3dmark06? Cause i have to view my points online -
i am using the pro ver (full ver), this is pissing me off, i was thinking about calling dell until i thought about this forum. I did not pay RM 4000+ for a subpar card.
-
and @ what resolution you're running the Test bro , I did @ 1440x900 and i got 4238 pts in 3dmark06
-
redrazor11 Formerly waterwizard11
Also, make sure you reboot before you test, because you want your ram and vram to be mostly empty when the testing loads up the system.
-
i am using the default one,1280X1024. I am still dling the driver...
-
Ive tried restarting mine several times with no luck. Also i cant overclock with any drivers even when using cleansweeper
oni: you should be getting at least 2000+ -
strange...when you get this notebook?
-
I got a low score too with my M1530 until I realized I was running the computer in power saver mode, the problem went away when I switched it to "high performance". To do that, click on the battery icon on the task bar and select high performance mode, if it says you're in power saver that is your problem.
-
driver 169.04, score is 1128
driver 167.45 score is 1156
man its getting worst =-=
i got the comp last yr, november i think. -
mine is set at balanced, gonna try high performance then.
-
As for the score: is your computer running in performance mode? Is your computer plugged? Those two factors make a great difference in the result. -
well that driver you mentioned, i get 1315 for that so i decided to try some of the older drivers.
now i am back to 174.31, dled from dell.com itself. It is plugged to the wall if thats what you mean and the battery performance is high. The score is now 1019. Looks like i am doomed.... -
i forgot to mention that yesterday when i play cs 1.6, the screen went black all of a sudden and then i have to wait for 10 secs or so for it to recover. I get a balloon message "graphic crash or something has recovered". This happened several times already.
-
Sounds really strange. It doesn't seem like the driver is the problem, and you state that you set the computer in high performance mode.
So that would leave the hardware, which might be faulty.
I remember when I tested my old x800 after about a couple years the score went down to like 200. When something like that happens, you know the card is probably fried. I hope you can send it in for repair. -
well i am defo gonna complain to dell tmr. Cant believe this is happening to me...
-
jus called dell, they are willing to replace my mobo/card together.
-
dell replaced the card, got 1776 score now =-=, looks like it aint really the card problem. Is the 3Dmark06 heavily affected by the cpu?
-
Your CPU score is only ~ 150-200 points below mine but I'm scoring ~ 3300 at stock clocks on my 8600M GT. That seems to indicate something is still wrong with your GPU or settings.
Download GPU-Z ( http://www.techpowerup.com/gpuz/) and post a screenshot. -
Are you sure you have the 8600M GT? Sounds more like something that an 8400M GS will score. It's definitely not the CPU because you're scoring really low on the tests that tax the GPU.
GPU-Z should help *points at above post*. See if your clocks are set correctly [475 core; 400 memory]
EDIT: I'm curious... What's RM? -
Rm is malaysian currency. Never used GPU-Z will try it.
-
Something is definitely wrong here. I scored nearly 2500 with my 8400GT on the FZ.
-
here's my gpu-z
btw what settings are you saying? Other than installing the driver, i never touched anything else on the GPU.
edit: could there be something that is restricted my card from reaching its full potential?
edit2 : GPU says 84M, could it be i am given a 8400 instead of a 8600 but the name of the 8400 is 8600? (lol) -
no that all seems correct, very weird your only getting around 1000 points
-
the GPU 84M thingy aint wrong ?
dell said if the problem persist, i can request for another motherboard, but i am not sure if i should and it will be damn troublesome. -
im running at 1920 x 1080 on dell XPS m1730 and getting 8745, 1350 is tiny compared to things im used to seeing so i have no idea whether its a crap score or not =\
-
just replace the whole thing, not worth wasting ur time. I score higher with my 8400M GT non OC @ 2700+ 3Dmarks06
-
I dont think you should replace the whole thing as of yet. Its possible it can be a 3dmark06 glitch.
How does the actual card perform when gaming? -
He said he had problems ingame too...i think
-
replace the whole thing as in the whole lappy itself? you mean sell the damn thing and get a new one? O_O
i am gonna call dell to replace my mobo to see if it helps. After the card had been replaced, the card will still "not responding and has recovered" crash even if i am play old stuff like cs 1.6 etc. I cant imagine what will happen if i play crysis now. -
Well i get on the errors as well, but it is fine after i installed the dell one.
I am guessing the GPU defect. I mean ther might be 1 card that could've been made defected and even some how passed the test. Call dell, (yes it is pain
) and ask for another gpu. The guide to replace gpu is on the manual, which i read because of the boredom
-
I found the problem. The PCI slot your video card resides in is only set to 1x when it should be set to 16x. I am getting 5k in 3dMark (XP Home), so you should be getting at least 3-4k in Vista. Look at below pics of your gpu-z and then mine.
-
haha your vostro 1500 g8600m gt is the same performance as my vostro 8400gs in 3dmark.. after a little oc..
-
your PCI thingy has to be set to x16
-
right how do i set the pci thingy?? pls teach me >.<
-
alright i went to bios, didnt do anything as there's no pci option available there so i went to desktop and recheck the gpu-z, it states that i am already at x16 now ! I am doing a 3dmark06 test atm..
-
score 1880, i went to check the gpu-z again, the damn card went back to x1 again... alright someone please tell me where to set the x16 thing as i went to bios and see no signs of it.
-
The only time, that I know of, when Windows cuts the PCI-E bus to 1x is when you are in battery saver mode.
Just for kicks go into power options and see if you can reset all the crap. Then, once again, make sure that you are set to high powered mode.
You'll go into power profile settings and then advanced settings and make sure the PCI stuff is set to "Link State Power Management" off.
Or try going into the higher performance option "change plan settings" and click restore default.
Good luck dude, if this stuff doesn't work, it might be your motherboard. -
my state power thing is off and i am running high performance. Guess its the mobo problem. There's no other way to alter the pci-e thing?
-
ScifiMike12 Drinking the good stuff
And your computer is plugged in as opposed to running off the battery?
-
yeap, test both with battery + plugged in and plugged in without battery.
-
MOBO IS NOT THE PROBLEM(Maybe but unlikely)
Do this. Downlaod nvidia ntune and post the clocks. -
Maybe in rivatuner??
Have you applied these updates to vista (must have for gaming)
Also is this problem OS specific or happens n both XP and Vista. If you have not tried to install XP or reinstall vista then do so.
If problem still persists then ask for a replacement machine as the user should not have to go through all this -
man asking for a replacement machine?i already changed my lcd from the crappy auo to the good lg then changed the mobo to fix the headphone issues. Btw, aint the clock posted already in GPU-z?
dling the updates atm btw... -
well if nothing solves it then you should get a replacement.
one more suggestion, do you have the latest BIOS for your laptop?? -
erm, it stops responding and then recovers after a while in my games. EVEN Football manager, as you have totally no graphics wat so ever, the card will still crash. I am still dling the updates atm.
btw i am checking this out too - http://www.techarp.com/showarticle.aspx?artno=522 -
It's only for desktop where the bios can be changed freely, not for laptop.
-
the bios i am having now is A07, when i reformat it, the bootup still shows A07, so i didnt do anything.
3DMark06 score is 1315
