Apparently this is normal, since the internet tells me the 06 test is designed to make my 2 day old computer look like a POS. I have the m1210's GeForce Go 7400, which is nowhere near a performance card, but it should be good enough to play most everything these days at medium settings. When the graphics tests came up, I was getting 0-2 FPS, max 4 ... there's not something wrong with my card, right?
I think 06 is new enough that I can't really find much benchmark information on it on the web ... my score: 827
Anyone else benchmarked with 3DMark06? I'm curious how other laptops have performed...

highest i got was 4400 something but that was luck or something
trying to get it again

Don't worry, your 3DMark06 score is in line with other go7400 based machines I've seen. The 7400 scores around 800-1000, with the highest seen being the much higher clocked 7400 in the Asus VX1.
-
Its supposed to do that. The test is VERY demanding, even to high end systems.
-
Totally normal score, most 7400go get between 600-850. Your's is actually in the upper range so be pleased about that! 3dmark is generally about 2 years ahead of itself in terms of the graphical quality and engine demands.

Yeah, 0-2 fps is normal. I get 0 on the one test with all the red (looks like Mars) and my 3dmark06 score is 4000.

Thanks! Google told me how demanding the test was, but I wanted reassurance on my large purchase. I remembered to compare my score on the futureMark website to other 7400 GO users ... mine was good, and 150 points higher than a Sony SZ user if I remember right, which makes me so happy I finally decided in favor of the m1210.
I wonder why the same specced SZ doesn't get quite as good graphics performance? Guides on this site say that the same gfx card in different laptops will perform differently ... I guess because the XPS m1210 is designed to (somewhat) game and perform, whereas the Sony doesn't have that emphasis. I compared the specs and they were pretty much the same, but even though its a tiny difference, I'm glad I went with the cheaper but heavier XPS. -

The CPU test in 3DMark06 is actually quite good, and is supposed to mimmick future gaming. It is multithreaded, so a dual-core processor is invaluable in that test.

Are you guys using the free trial version of 3Dmark? This lets you use everything you need and gives you scores etc.?

I believe most of us use the free (it's not a trial) version; it only supports the default test, but that is all you need to get a score. The pro version lets you change resolution and do more tests.
-
does the free version let you compare scores on the website ?

You can get a compare link, yes.

yep, all u need to do is register and you can compare your scores, actually u dont even need the software. You can search and see what other people get with the w/e spec u put in.
3DMark06 score very low ...
