I've tried to run 3Dmark06 Basic on my notebook.
No succes... It tells I need DirectX 9 to run it, while my laptop uses the newer DirectX 1O... And I don't feel like downgrading from version 10 to 9 he...

Anyone knows how I could run this benchmark on my notebook?

    works fine on mine.

have you tried running it with system administrator rights.

right click on the install or run icon, and then right click on properties.

tick system administrator rights at the bottom of the box.

    regards

    John.

That's correct - download the files it tells you to. It's actually an update to DX9 that it will need, since your computer will already have DX9 installed. After all, there's only a scant few games out there that actually use DX10, and all of those let you play in DX9 mode anyway, mostly because the performance is usually better in DX9. There's no question of downgrading - you will need DX9 for a year or so more to play games on your laptop, unless you pick and choose the very few games currently available where you can run them in DX10.

... Vista has both DirectX 9 and DirectX 10. There is no such thing as "downgrading" because they are different things.

DX10 includes DX9. If 3dmark06 asks for some files, just download them . Or better yet, get the newest DX10 version and install that.

Yow... I was able to run the benchmark...
Just re-installed it, and let it download the DX9 files it needed.

3Dmark06 score: 33O7 (without any mods. or overclocking)
