Hey guys, I see alot of these in other forums and decided to start one since I am bored.

When posting your score, post if you OC'd the video card and what settings you used. Also list systems specs if not in your sig.

I have a GeForce Go FX 5200, Yes i know its pretty old. Its in my Dell Inspiron 8600. My specs: 1.4Ghz, 512MB, 40GB HD. I got around 1917 in my score when my card was at normal (default) settings.

    3DMark05, not 03.

The poll doesn't work too well; the categories are too broad. The difference between a 128MB X600 and 128MB X700 is HUGE, but here they'd fall in the same category.

Is there a way to change polls without making a new one...if so I will change.

Yea, a little broad. Perhaps make a new post with the same poll, just make the scores a little more evened out. Something closer to this:

    0-999
    1000-1999
    2000-2999
    3000-3999
    4000-4999
    5000+

That is a little more accurate and relatively more useful for classifying a performance level.1500 to 3000 is massive. We can group my notebook with my desktop gaming machine (no dream machine itself). I like the idea, but probably some more refinement :p.

    Better score ranges :)

I overclocked my X600, my base score was 1478. After 3 days worth of playing with it and overclocking, I pulled off a 2048 at my highest run, which is how it is set now.

    Mobility Catalyst 5.11 drivers, 256MB ( GDDR2) X700.

    Stock (mem:core) 351:331 = 2,785

Ih8AMD, That's uncalled for. Totally not necessary, and very immature.

On to the point of this post:

I wonder what the major difference is between the X700 and the X600 that makes the scores so drastically different at the same clock speeds. Is there a way to open/close pixel pipelines in ATI cards without flashing the v-bios? If so, anyone know how?

Answer's in your post: the X700 has eight pipelines; the X600 only has four.

Mine pulls a 1710 in 3DMark05 at stock. I don't overclock it because ATI Tray Tools gives me artifacting at stock as is (even though I have yet to witness it in game).

Nope - the X700 has a totally different core, memory bus, and processor, in addition to double the pixel pipes and three times the vertex engines versus the X600. Also, the X700 has support for 3Dc and Pixel Shader v2.0b, whereas the X600 only has 2.0.

Ah, that answers my questions :). Oh well, I can fight my card to a higher framerate. I got the cooler, but oddly enough, (thank you HP) The overall shape of the underside of the zd8000 makes for a poor cooling situation, even with the cooler. I'm going to see about possibly modding some kind of fan into it and adding an additional grill by modifying the base assembly. :) Might take some time and some serious planning first. I don't have an unlimited supply of money like I wish I did, or I would go and buy a different laptop for my gaming and keep using this one for my media purposes :p.

    I average right around 4200-4300 at 361 core/720 mem, using 82.10 drivers from laptopvideo2go.com.

I could use a third party tool to push the overclock further, I suppose, but I get the performance I need, so I'm content.

I lowered my settings a little bit and still get about 4480+. You might want to try the mobileforce drivers by Tru. That is if you want to try a little higher.

how is garikfox getting such high scores? isn't the x600 a crappier vid card than the 6800go? doesn't seem possible that he can triple my score (4109) with just 1/2 a gig more ram and slightly faster processor than myself

    3dMark05 - 2800 (barf). I'll fix that crap.

Don't see the point in posting desktop machine scores in here. This is notebook review dot com.

Redfrog, go to voodopc.com and falcon-nw.com and drool away.

    [email protected]/371.25 with catalyst 5.11's.

I'm trying to break into the 3's but shouldn't be too hard as these 3dmark benchmark scores don't mean too much in terms of fps. A couple frames can mean hundreds of points.

    Hey dude what's up?

Thanks for the info on the drivers...I installed them yesterday night and they give a slight boost in 3Dmark but I wonder if they are actually better than the 5.11's.

I sent my lappy in for a screen replacement because of that red ghosting issue, so I have to wait 48hours. Oh well...*sigh* at least my reseller is addressing the issue right? :D

I ended up getting 29xx something so I bumped up from 28xx something. Not bad at all.

Can't wait until my baby gets her new face :D

    Cheers,
    Mike

Man oh Man, I'm drooling over the notebook my friend ordered yesterday. Lucky smacktard got $1500 for xmas after relatives, and he had plenty in the bank so he decided on this laptop:

    http://www.sagernotebook.com/pages/notebooks/product2.cfm?ProductType=9750&SubType=V

    I'M SO JEALOUS! X|

I'm actually having a hard time deciding on what I want to do for my next technological advancement. Unholy powered desktop (custom build), or that Sager notebook right there, (NP9750-V) They will both cost the same, but the desktop will be twice as powerful. ARGH! Decisions, decisions!

    It won't happen 'til tax-time anyway :p.

Dragon, I got mine from another computer. Long story. But they have been as low as $400, and as high as $600. Just keep your eye out in Dell's spare parts.

kingjimmi, what drivers are you running?? I am sure the extra ram is giving you a bit of a boost, I highly doubt your processor is effecting things much. So I am curious how you have gotten such a high score. Are you overclocking??

Sublime, look at my sig, I'm using whatever driver is currently the lastest hosted at Dell's site. They were made 7/14/2005. The driver version is 7.8.3.0. No, I'm not overclocking.

I ran 3DMark05 immediately after a clean Win MCE install. Maybe that's why my results seem so high. Maybe I'll do another run now that I've had my laptop for a couple of weeks.

    Edit:
Just ran 3DMark05 again . . . got 7330 this time. This makes me think you might want to ask why your results are so low Sublime. Sounds like you're only getting about 1k more than 6800ultra peeps. That doesn't sound right to me.

    Edit #2:
The scores I posted are using the free version of 3DMark05, not the full version. I have heard that the full version gives lower scores than the freebie version.

    Turion 1.6Ghz 1MB ML-30 - No Volt Mod
    896MB PC3200 DDR400 (128MB of the 1024MB goes toward the graphics card)
    X200M 32MB + 128MB System Memory - Not Overclocked
    Radeon Omega Catalyst 5.12 Drivers

    3DMARK05 = 562 Marks

Not bad IMO for a X200m w/32MB. I doubt I will ever OC since I'd freak if I ****ed up my IGP/MOBO. But I have no problem doing it with my desktop :p

I installed these drivers, but I really don't like hypermemory function. I have x700 128 MB. After installation system shows that there is 512 MB of video RAM. So 512-128=384. I have 1024 MB RAM, but with hypermemory i loose 384 MB and have just 1024-384=640 MB. So I think it's unacceptable.

p.s. when I was running test, I forgot turn off Kaspersky Anti virus. Is it possible, that this software could decrease my performance?

I bought my z70va about 2 weeks ago, and I just downloaded 3dmark05, and I got what seems like a very very low score for my system...1650.

I'm using Mobility Catalyst 5.13 drivers...no clue what the problem is.

Phoenix - that is indeed a low score. I've seen other Z70VA users post scores around 2,400-2,500 or so.

    Have you tried disabling PowerPlay?

I'd go into the device manager and completely uninstall the Mobility Radeon X700, then uninstall all ATi related software. Reboot the machine, then reinstall the drivers.

If that doesn't work, then check out the clocks on the video card itself using ATI Tray tools . .

Let us know how you make out. ;)

It was my drivers...I installed the latest Omega drivers (was using Catalyst 5.13 Mobile) and OC'd my card a bit, got 2850 on 3dmark05.

    Thanks for the input, though.

    Using a Toshiba M40, 1.86Ghz, 1Gb ram and 128MB Geforce 6600 Go.

    3dmark05 is 2183 unoverclocked. (300/600)
    when pushed to 325/651 i get 2384

    Anyone manage higher?
