    Man,

The 6800 Go is a beast...4573 Marks in 05 with specs in my sig. I just wish I could get a 7800 without modding my lappy. :(

Sounds a little low, but you have the X300 64MB with Hypermemory right? That is alot slower than just dedicated memory on the video card. I think that would be about right for that. :(

as far as I'm aware its dedicated memory, any way I can tell for sure ? There was no mention of hypermemory when I bought it

    cheers

If it doesn't have hypermemory then that score is about right. The X300 isn't a great graphics card plus it would only have 64MB of memory. If there is not Hypermemory then that score would be about right. :(

thanks for the reply, do you (or anyone else) know how I can rell if my system uses hypermemory or not ? As I said when I purchased it there was no mention of it (there'd usually be an * that later explains that its not dedicated memory)

    thanks

On Dell's site it does not say that it it hypermemory. So I have come to the conclusion that it is not hypermemory and you only have 64MB of Video RAM for the video card.

The D610's X300 has 64MB of dedicated DDR memory.

Yeah . . unfortunately, 901 is what you should be getting for that card from what I have seen. Updating your video drivers to the latest (Mobility Catalyst 5.13) will help performance.

cheers mate, I'll do that and post my results.

    edit
I installed the Omega drivers (based on calalyst 5.12 and got slightly less than before, 896 !) so now I just installed the latest ATI 5.13 and got 1003 !

Still crap but its not bad, 10% increase!
    cheers

Yeah, it was. Terrible image quality. I never updated to them. The 5.11's were very good from my usage - stable, no problems. The 5.13's are a worthy upgrade to the 5.11's.

I've been using the latest Catalyst 6.1's for a few days. I saw a small (about 5 FPS) performance gain in Knights of the Old Republic, but everything else seems to be the same. They're pretty stable from what I'm seeing.

    Using a ASUS Z81Sp with a P4(630H/T) 3GHz, 1GB DDR-2 RAM (dual channel config) and a 256MB GDDR3 6800 go.

3dmark05 score is 3830 with noverclocking and with stock drivers that came with my notebook

    6600gt in a laptop???

Anyhoo', concerning the x700 128mb, it all depends on which one you have. The ones in Z70Va's cannot go over 3000, unless maybe you have a cpu that's faster than my 2.0ghz. I don't know I haven't tried, who knows.

My baby won't go past 29xx. That's it's absolute max, which gives artifacts in other games, so I leave my baby at 378/371.

Hey Chaz, you think it's worthwhile to go from the 5.13's to the 6.1's?

I hear the Catalyst Control thingy is better in 6.1, is it?

    Cheers,
    Mike

Won't even try to bench my Dell Inspiron 8200...

6600GT only comes in a desktop forum. No way a Go6600 is getting the score that dr. did. ;)

Yeah, it's worth it to go from the 5.13's. 6.1's are stable and work well, not sure of any performance increases, but they do fix some little glitches in games I think.

Couldn't tell you about CCC, sorry, I don't have that installed. ;) I just use the stock ATI driver + ATI Tray Tools.

Well, if someone put a Go6600 with 1.6ns GDDR3 and a good sample of the core that could overclock to and beyond 6600GT speeds... ;)

But indeed, that was on my desktop.

I managed a 1717 with my Toshiba P-30 W/ATI 9700 with the Omega 3.8.205 drivers and a mild overclock. Before that i could only get 1300's with much more risky overclock.

662 seems awfully low. I got 900+ at stock drivers, 1000+ on Omega, 1100+ if overclocked. Are you downclocked by any chance?

I just got my laptop a few days ago, so I haven't done anything with it. Could it possibly be that I had other apps running in the background? Or maybe that I undervolted my laptop?

EDIT - By the way, where could I find Omega drivers and would it be OK to install them even though I undervolted my laptop?

i guess thats just how the various cards turn out

    x300's get below 1000, the x600's 1000-2000, the x700's 2000-3000, the x800's 5000+

exactly the same with the nvidia cards, seems there is a premium with the highest end card they have

You can get the Omega drivers at www.driverheaven.net, or at www.Omegadrivers.net.

Be sure to close all other apps when you run 3DMark, you want as much power as possible going to the benchmark.

Does "all other apps" include the stuff that runs on startup? IBM has a bunch of stuff that runs when the laptop starts up.

Ok, thanks. I'll run another test shortly and hopefully my scores go up. :)

EDIT - Just finished another test and I got 666. I have a feeling it has something to do with me undervolting my laptop. Is it possible?

Also, Omega drivers + undervolt = OK? I know that overclock + undervolt = bad, so I wasn't sure about the Omega drivers, and what they do.

I guess my scores are low for what I got. I mean I was beat by some 6800 cards. I'm hoping that some updated 7800 Go drivers will fix this problem.

Well, this thread inspried me to see just what this system could do :)

Using ATI Tool, the maximum stable clock speeds I found are 527/553 (up from 450/500 default) - I haven't played with just straight memory overclocking yet.

    GT1 - Return To Proxycon 22.7 fps
    GT2 - Firefly Forest 13.6 fps
    GT3 - Canyon Flight 22.9 fps

    CPU Test 1 2.6 fps
    CPU Test 2 4.1 fps

    3DMark Score 4807 3DMarks
    CPU Score 4862 CPUMarks

Question: My hard drive seems to be thrashing during the CPU tests - anyone else noticed this?

The stock settings run was probably the "cleanest" I've done, as 3DMark was the first thing I installed and ran when the system was new. Now my system has got two version of SQL Server running, and a few other background services chewing up CPU all the time. Anyways, here 'tis:

    3DMark Score 4161 3DMarks
    CPU Score 4760 CPUMarks

    Game Tests
    GT1 - Return To Proxycon 20.0 fps
    GT2 - Firefly Forest 11.5 fps
    GT3 - Canyon Flight 20.0 fps

    CPU Tests
    CPU Test 1 2.5 fps
    CPU Test 2 4.1 fps

Quick question: Are you able to publish your 3DM results online? When I submit mine it says "Unknown CPU" and "Generic VGA", so publishing isn't possible. It also detects my FSB as being 5771MHz

Haven't ever used Super Pi - got a link?

    EDIT:

Downloaded Super PI and ran the 2M test -in 1m 19s. Note that I have continuous 2-3% CPU usage with all the background services I'm running though, so I wouldn't say my result is indicative of a "clean" 8204.

Better move my vote to the 5000+ category :p

    3DMark Score 5174 3DMarks
    CPU Score 5380 CPUMarks

    Detailed Test Results
    Game Tests
    GT1 - Return To Proxycon 24.3 fps

    CPU Test 1 2.9 fps
    CPU Test 2 4.4 fps

Well, I don't know about a pat on the back, all I did was use an overclocking utility. Still, 5000 was a "mental target" (created by this thread no doubt), so I'm now happy until I get new silicon :)

The formula for 3DMark scores is:

    (Game1 FPS * Game2 FPS * Game3 FPS) ^(1/3) * 250

So in order to get another 27 points, you should only need to gain about 0.002 FPS.. Doesn't sound like much, but when you're at the limit, you're at the limit! :)

Posted a couple weeks ago with a score of 666. Today I decided to use NHC on the Max Performance setting and run 3dMark05. Got a score of 887, which sounds a lot closer to what it should be stock. Yay for me... :)

I have just taken delivery of my SavRow Blade-75 laptop:

http://www.savrow.com/Racing/blade-75 (silver with black screen - not that racing paint!)

It is a UK performance laptop company, (Sager i guess being its nearest equivalent in the US)

    Intel Pentium M 2.0ghz
    1GB DDR2 RAM
    Nvidia Go 7800 GTX
    100GB 7200rpm HDD

    Stock Settings:

    3D Mark 2005 -------> 7032 Marks

Woo! :D Any P-M laptop do better than that?

    Now to install the games!

    7800GTX's *do* kick!

In answer to your question though, here's the fastest one albeit a 2.4GHz P-M, but here's a 2.0GHz P-M that's doing pretty good too :)
