Man,
The 6800 Go is a beast...4573 Marks in 05 with specs in my sig. I just wish I could get a 7800 without modding my lappy. -
can this be normal ?
Latitude D610 1GB ram PM 760 and ATI X300 64mb
and grand total of ........ 901 !!
fps fluctuated between 1 and 4 !! it was comical! -
USAFdude02 NBR Reviewer & Deity NBR Reviewer
Sounds a little low, but you have the X300 64MB with Hypermemory right? That is alot slower than just dedicated memory on the video card. I think that would be about right for that.
-
as far as I'm aware its dedicated memory, any way I can tell for sure ? There was no mention of hypermemory when I bought it
cheers

USAFdude02 NBR Reviewer & Deity NBR Reviewer
If it doesn't have hypermemory then that score is about right. The X300 isn't a great graphics card plus it would only have 64MB of memory. If there is not Hypermemory then that score would be about right.
-
thanks for the reply, do you (or anyone else) know how I can rell if my system uses hypermemory or not ? As I said when I purchased it there was no mention of it (there'd usually be an * that later explains that its not dedicated memory)
thanks

On Dell's site it does not say that it it hypermemory. So I have come to the conclusion that it is not hypermemory and you only have 64MB of Video RAM for the video card.

The D610's X300 has 64MB of dedicated DDR memory.
Yeah . . unfortunately, 901 is what you should be getting for that card from what I have seen. Updating your video drivers to the latest (Mobility Catalyst 5.13) will help performance. -
cheers mate, I'll do that and post my results.
edit
I installed the Omega drivers (based on calalyst 5.12 and got slightly less than before, 896 !) so now I just installed the latest ATI 5.13 and got 1003 !
Still crap but its not bad, 10% increase!
cheers
gerryR -
Catalyst 5.12 (at least the Mobility version) was utter crap.
-
Charles P. Jefferies Lead Moderator Super Moderator
Yeah, it was. Terrible image quality. I never updated to them. The 5.11's were very good from my usage - stable, no problems. The 5.13's are a worthy upgrade to the 5.11's.
-
Terrible image quality? Haha. That is if you got them to work at all.

I've been using the latest Catalyst 6.1's for a few days. I saw a small (about 5 FPS) performance gain in Knights of the Old Republic, but everything else seems to be the same. They're pretty stable from what I'm seeing.
-
Using a ASUS Z81Sp with a P4(630H/T) 3GHz, 1GB DDR-2 RAM (dual channel config) and a 256MB GDDR3 6800 go.
3dmark05 score is 3830 with noverclocking and with stock drivers that came with my notebook -
3767 with a bloody overclocked 6600GT.
-
6600gt in a laptop???
Anyhoo', concerning the x700 128mb, it all depends on which one you have. The ones in Z70Va's cannot go over 3000, unless maybe you have a cpu that's faster than my 2.0ghz. I don't know I haven't tried, who knows.
My baby won't go past 29xx. That's it's absolute max, which gives artifacts in other games, so I leave my baby at 378/371.
Hey Chaz, you think it's worthwhile to go from the 5.13's to the 6.1's?
I hear the Catalyst Control thingy is better in 6.1, is it?
Cheers,
Mike -

Won't even try to bench my Dell Inspiron 8200... -
Charles P. Jefferies Lead Moderator Super Moderator
Yeah, it's worth it to go from the 5.13's. 6.1's are stable and work well, not sure of any performance increases, but they do fix some little glitches in games I think.
Couldn't tell you about CCC, sorry, I don't have that installed.I just use the stock ATI driver + ATI Tray Tools.
-
But indeed, that was on my desktop. -
I managed a 1717 with my Toshiba P-30 W/ATI 9700 with the Omega 3.8.205 drivers and a mild overclock. Before that i could only get 1300's with much more risky overclock.
-
I couldn't find a link to download the benchmarking software. Any help?
(probably going blind and stupid from catching up all the different threads:0) -
http://www.futuremark.com/
here you can download the whole 3dmark series, hope you have high speed. 05 is 283 megs. -
i just ran 3DMarks06 and got a score of 637. I am running a V4000t with 1.83ghz P-M, 1gb DDR2 533 worth of ram, 128mb x700, and 80gb 5200rpm hardrive. Wondering where i can get updated video drivers and if i need to do anything to my computer prior to instaling them. thank you.

Just ran 3DMarks05 and got 2535. still would like to know about the drivers since iam still running stock from compaq.

Thanks Mike, gotta download for winME til I get my laptop.

That is kinda odd...most people are either blow the middle or above....no on with 3500-5000?
-
EDIT - By the way, where could I find Omega drivers and would it be OK to install them even though I undervolted my laptop? -
x300's get below 1000, the x600's 1000-2000, the x700's 2000-3000, the x800's 5000+
exactly the same with the nvidia cards, seems there is a premium with the highest end card they have -

Be sure to close all other apps when you run 3DMark, you want as much power as possible going to the benchmark. -
-
Charles P. Jefferies Lead Moderator Super Moderator
I just meant stuff you have open.
Shutting off some smaller services won't do much for your score. -
Ok, thanks. I'll run another test shortly and hopefully my scores go up.
EDIT - Just finished another test and I got 666. I have a feeling it has something to do with me undervolting my laptop. Is it possible?
Also, Omega drivers + undervolt = OK? I know that overclock + undervolt = bad, so I wasn't sure about the Omega drivers, and what they do. -

Well, this thread inspried me to see just what this system could do
Using ATI Tool, the maximum stable clock speeds I found are 527/553 (up from 450/500 default) - I haven't played with just straight memory overclocking yet.

Great job with the overclocking, you certainly deserve a pat on the back! Over 5k . . amazing, that's beating the Mobility Radeon X800 by over eight hundred points!

Good job travel matey. I think I am going to try and break 4600 with my comp...specs in sig. I think I can do it, but who knows
I am the only one at 4500-5000 LOL! -
The formula for 3DMark scores is:
(Game1 FPS * Game2 FPS * Game3 FPS) ^(1/3) * 250
So in order to get another 27 points, you should only need to gain about 0.002 FPS.. Doesn't sound like much, but when you're at the limit, you're at the limit! -
Posted a couple weeks ago with a score of 666. Today I decided to use NHC on the Max Performance setting and run 3dMark05. Got a score of 887, which sounds a lot closer to what it should be stock. Yay for me...

It is a UK performance laptop company, (Sager i guess being its nearest equivalent in the US)

Now to install the games! -
In answer to your question though, here's the fastest one albeit a 2.4GHz P-M, but here's a 2.0GHz P-M that's doing pretty good too
