specs in the sig
1231 on 3dmark05 sigh, it makes me wish i had gotten the 9300 with the 256 nvidea... o well, it runs COD1 just fine~120fps with medium-high settings. im about to reformat and then install the omegas, ill tell you how it goes

1,231 isn't a bad score at all for an X300 - as a matter of fact, that's very good. Getting newer drivers should allow you to get an even higher score.
-
well the regret would be that i only get 1231. but its good to know that its a decent score for an x300. another thing is that dell apparently underclocks the x300 in their laptops (297/216) can anyone confirm that this is lower than usual?
-
whats a good score from 3dmarks 05 ?
Ill be doin a test with it and ill post my numbers after i do it but i want to know what would be a good score ? -

I merged your thread because it is related to this topic.
You might want to read through a few pages of this thread, but I'd say for a Go7800GTX, around 6600 would be a good score (and that's conservative). -
6000, that is why i shouldve gone for the 9300. what kind of difference would 2 gigs of ram make?
-
3dMark is mostly a graphics card dependent benchmark. I would say the difference will not be significant.
-
Charles P. Jefferies Lead Moderator Super Moderator
In 3DMark, going from 1GB to 2GB makes little or no difference, agreed with HomeSkillet. If the video card is slow, that's your bottleneck and no amount or RAM or a super fast processor is going to make a drastic difference.
-
thanks for the info. but still does anyone know what the usual core and mem speeds are on the x300 mobility?
-
just completely reinstalled the catalyst drivers then went omega and setup default settings (let application choose) and pulled a 1381!! haha:ati: :centrino:
-
Heu
I got 3600 3D marks with stock settings and 84.25 modified drivers.
How much can I OC it and how many more marks can I get with my lappy?
Thanks -
1722
especially considering that its only a 128mb x300!
i OCed it to 400/295 which is a 33%/36.6% increase, and i still have plenty to go because the stock clocks should be around 350/275 or so. -

update: 1790 at 417/315. im not going to take it any higher, but i'm now able to play cod1 at 1024x768 extra high settings for everything and trilinear filtering and still get around 90-200 fps depending on alot but averaging around 125 or so. i played for a good 2 hours last night at those settings. just hope that it doesn't melt or explode on me in the middle of something....

I used My Desktop (Sorry don't have a notebook...yet
)
My Specs:
AMD Athlon 64 X2 4400+
XFX Geforce 7800GTX (Not Go) 256MB (Factory OC'd at 490Mhz/1.3GHz)
1 GB RAM (This is Value RAM none of that fancy gold-heatspreader pieces of $hit...but it passed 25 hrs. of memtest so)
This is with NO after-retail OC'ing (I haven't done any of my own OCing yet)
This Maybe the highest score yet...
8527 3DMarks!
I am interested in doing some OC'ing but all the programs I have tried are absolute garbage... like nTune, RivaTuner...etc)
Any thoughts on AI Booster is it any good for OCing??
So add my score to the list
:nvidia: :amd64:

I can't believe I've missed this thread for so long!
Anyways, I get about 6000 3DMarks (5902 to be exact) when OCing my 7800 Go and using Nvidia drivers. I get about 3800-3900 non-OCed and with Dell drivers. -
why didn't i just get the 9300 with the nvidia!!!
-
1926! if i keep OCing more and more i might need to revote in the 2000s...
-
Specs in siggy.
I hit 6940with the updated drivers via sager. No O/C (I dont know how to and dont need to)

Ok
I have oced it to 470/370 and I dont get much of a improvement.
can my laptop get over 4000 marks or is that impossible? -

A overclock of 470/370 is good, I wont go any further. I clock my card over to 372/330...

2003 marks on 3D Mark 05 straight out of the box

How do I change my vote? lol
That's at 444.60/331.20 with optimized memory latencies. -
sick, absolutely sick.

Read 'em and weap! Broke 3300 on an x700!
Clocks are 425/785

Oh my God 3300 with a X700! But you have the GDDR2 version with 256 MB I guess... Great score, congrats!
But isnt that overclock a bit dangerous? I mean I think you want to use your laptop for more then 2 months
Charlie-Peru -
I just do **** like that for in your face benchmarking. I dont overclock most of the time. Only games I overclock with are Fear and Oblivion. And I dont put it anywhere near those speeds
Becides, I keep the fans on full blast, use a cooling pad, make sure the room is cold and only do this when I first turn on the laptop. -
Charles P. Jefferies Lead Moderator Super Moderator
Great scores Twilight, that's very high indeed. Right, only use those extreme clocks for the benchmark runs.
The 5320 can heat up quite a bit if you don't cool it right. I have mine undervolted on a Pacific Breeze cooler, and my temps are very low. I ordered some Arctic Silver 5 thermal compound, we'll see what that does. Right now my CPU temps are in the 37-40* range @ idle, 56-58 @ full load. Pretty good. AS5 should bring it down more.
The farthest OC I have done so far is 410:400, with tweaked timings - using the old drivers, I got 3,290 in '05, I should try it with the Omega 6.3's. -

Too bad for you guys, summer is coming no more die-hard overclocking I guess. We had a hot summer here once, it felt like my old laptop was cooking idle!
Charlie-Peru -
Yea, I put some AS5 on mine. Undervolted the CPU. A little extreme, but it worked.
Thanks a lot guys -

I see in your signature that you have a 1.86 Sonoma Twilight Vampire... Will you brake the 3400 barrier with the 2.13 GHz Sonoma? Will that get you a boost of 100? By the way it would be better if you had 2 GB... I just wanted to know if a X700 can brake the 3400 barrier with an optimazied laptop.
Thanks,
Charlie-Peru
BTW What cooling pad do you use Twilight Vampire? -
Notebook Solutions Company Representative NBR Reviewer
Incredible! Just incredible! I always clock my card to 372:330 to play Oblivion...Today I thought lets run 3dmark05...
I got an incredible score of 2605! I was shocked! And I was hoping to brake the 2400 barrier... I was nervous and then I saw 2605! Oh my God. The X700 mobility is a great overclocking card! I recommend everyone that plays games to buy a cooling pad of 10 bucks and clock the card to play much better!
Cheers,

I think an X700 could break 3,400 with some extreme overclocking and a faster CPU, such as a 2.26GHz PM 780 or a 770 2.13.
Nice job breaking your record Charlie. +200 points is very nice.
Chaz -
Congrats on that score!
I'm currently using a vantec pad. Doesnt work as well as some others. I've got a Spire Pacific Breeze coming in the mail. It'll be here Wedesday or Thursday.
I'm going to max this thing out one day and see what happens to my 3DMark scores. Until then I'm more than satisfied with the scores -

Thanks Twilight Vampire,
Cool you are getting the Pacific Breeze cooler too. I am wondering if you can brake the 3400 barrier... It would be awesome!
Charlie-Peru -
) and temps keep within 5 degrees of stock, and you have no artifacts, I don't think it harms it much.
I always push it to the max when I'm gaming and am in powerplay when not. -
3Dmark score of my dell Inspiron 9400 laptop with Intel Yonah Dual Core 2,16Ghz, 1024Mb 667Mhz DDR2 RAM and Geforce 7800 GO.
The laptop was reformatted, and a fresh WinXP Pro SP2 copy was installed.
McAfee virus/firewall suite was still running when performing tests (and I forgot to reboot before benchmarking).
Of course the latest Nvidia-drivers were loaded, and the Geforce 7800 Go was running with 'optimal detected settings'.
When running tests the day the laptop arrived (so with the Dell-install on the HDD), performance was weak, verrrrryyy weak...
Now, it is flying ;-)
Greetz!

when my lappie arrives ill post my 3dmark05/03 score!!
look at my siggie for specs -
I just got my E1705 with the Nvidia GeForce GO 7800...
I ended up getting 3797 in 3D Mark 2005, is this good/bad?
Is there any way other than OCing it to get a better score?
Thanks... -

An overclock would be the most simple thing to do. The only other thing is much more complicated. You'd have to flash your video bios. Which is much more risky.
If you dont want to do either, you're SOL. -
Man, I 'm kinda disappointed with my 3D mark score, i only got 1330 or sth like that not even 1400 score.
I 've been using my new laptop for 2 weeks now.
My specs:
Dell e1705
2.0 core duo
80gb 5400RPM ( this is going to die soon bc of loud clicking noise)
X1400 ATI 256mb ( this video card is that bad??)
1gb RAM
Any1 got high score on this type of video card?
