    With 3dmark05 and 06, is it necessary to Buy them inorder to get a final 3dmark score that is comparable to everyone else(the scores on this site). Thanks.

    No that is not needed at all. If you just download the normal version, you can compare it with these settings on this forum.

    I heard that buying 3dmark05 and '06 gives you access to settings, so you manually "get a higher score". Like disabling some special effects. But only a few buy 3dmark. We usually download the normal version which you cannot edit.

    download them, install them, run them, then record the number of "3Dmarks" you get at the end of the test.

    Thanks guys :) The only reason i was asking is because i downloaded PcMark05 and no matter how many times i ran it i would never get an actual PcMark score, i would get details online but no actual score.

    I have the Professional editions of '05 and '06 and there isn't much differnece other than the ads below and other minor things.

    There's probably a few things that you weren't doing right - PCMark05 can be difficult. You need to have Windows Media Encoder 9 installed, for one.

    You also need to have you visual settings to "For Best Appearance" as well. If you have your customized or at "For Best Performance" you won't get a number either.
