I dont know how to "rate" the 3dmark06 (3dmark at all) and i am looking at 2 notebooks right now, that scored 400 poinbts diffrent in 3dmark06, 3400 and 3800, but they have a price gap of 400$, and i am seriously thinking of buying one of them, but if those 400 points make a BIG diffrence i would wait for the more expensive notebook

Comparing MSI GX600 and Asus G1S-B2

Anybody who can explain it a bit? (i looked into the search, but there were no real explanations..

hmm looks like ddr2 and ddr3 versions of 8600m gt (right? :) )
I would just recommend waiting for a year or months and get the 9 series. If not, then search the forums for ddr2 vs ddr3 of 8600m gt in the crysis.

The difference between the two cards is probably 5 or so fps in most modern games, with the more expensive Asus having the higher fps.

Just in case you don't know, FPS is "frames per second" or how smooth the game looks. Personalty, I don't think its worth 400 dollars for that difference in graphics quality. But on the other hand, I'm more of a casual gamer.

well if price isn't an issue then there are better alternatives out there right now. but $400 for 400 point different is waste of your money. besides, you wont see any noticeable difference while gaming.

mid range card is a mid range card is a mid range card.

I agree with the previous poster, you may as well overclock you ddr2 gpu to ddr3 speeds. This should give you a similar speed boost with out spending 400$. Also as has been said, consider waiting new gpus should be just around the corner.

"just around the corner" means they will come out till mai or june? because by then i will be leaving canada and would have to pay the same price in germany, and then i would rather buy it here in canada...

I hear things like Q1 and February 08 for the new 9000 series nvidia cards, but how true these rumors are is almost impossible to tell. Anyone else have more details, or have a better idea?
