    usually it would not matter.

If its the default test, you would not have to set the resolution, just hit the Benchmark button. (and it will run at 1280x1024)

Already answered him in the 3DMark06 thread. His display is only WXGA+ i.e. 1440x900. It won't do 1280x1024...close but no cigar. Sorry buddy.

my macbook pro ran the test at some weird non-standard resolution because it couldn't output 1280x1024 (1440x900 - not enough vertical space)

If you want to use 1280x1024 and your laptop screen doesn't support it, then use an external monitor. In any case, you can try 1440x900 since that's basically the same number of pixels anyways so the score will be close enough to an official one for comparison.

Sorry Gohpn, I think your wrong on this.

The Dell review has nothing stating what res they ran it at.

The Asus reveiw link here, lists the resolution at 1280 x 800.

The Sager review pic here, says that it was not run at the default benchmark setting.

Sorry mate but I think YOUR wrong.

It's okay it happens with old age. :p

you cannot pick a custom resolution to set 3dmark 06 to without paying for it.

No one is paying for 3dmark. I don't even like to use 3dmark. It just happens to be the only decent single tool available. I would much prefer to simply use 1 game benchmark to determine performance. Ideally a combination of 3 or so varied games. (one ut3 engine, maybe one cryengine 2, and an open gl engine like doom 3 / quake 4 just for kicks.)

I thought redpointist said he has the advanced version. Doesn't that allow resolution changing?

He did say it, and I have the advanced version also and it does allow you to change the resolution. It only allows him to select his max resolution or lower though. Unless he has an external monitor (that can do 1680 or 1920 or 2560 etc) he won't be able to run it at a higher rate than his LCD panel will show. It's that simple.

yea, guess ill be using it at 1440x900

turns out 1280x1024 is a 1.1% increase in the number of pixels from 1440x900. Not a big deal perhaps i can adjust the scores by 1.1%

I also agree with masterchef in that no one is paying for 3dmark, but that doesn't entirely prevent one from using the advanced version in itself =D.
