970 M not 970. Anyway, read the vRAM information guide for understanding of vRAM and what you may need it for.

Well new games are starting to use more RAM, like GTA V would use 6GB easily

3GB so far has been fine on my Clevo P650SE. All of a sudden games are saying they require 4GB to 6GB of vRAM for high details, but I have yet to find an issue using my 970m with "ONLY" 3GB. If you find the laptop you really like and it only has 3GB vRAM I wouldn't worry about it. Otherwise if they offer an option for 6GB, then it can't hurt.

If you don´t care to read D2s extensive and helpful guide then the answer to your original question is "It might".

not "most" 970Ms that are 3gb...ALL 970Ms that are 3gb are not upgradeable.

Thank you so much everyone. I now understand lol. For the laptop you mentioned which i love by the way. Is adding 16gb a bit overkill or?

16 GB is a bit of a luxury. If $ is an issue, the thermal past upgrade comes first ...unless you want to do it yourself, include it in your order if it isn't [...just in case you change your mind on model]. 8GB is enough for games and single channel doesn't really matter for gaming. If money isn't really tight, get the 16GB ...sometimes I want 32GB when I get the itch to buy Dimmdrive, then I come to my senses. I can see having more than 8GB being a benefit in Fallout 4 once the modding community matures.

If you have extra, my next bump would be to get a larger m2 sata drive [since it is already on discount, being sort of the other free item in the S package]. As for the 2.5, switching that out for SSD will be cheaper aftermarket.

I say 16GB is the desired amount of RAM for any gaming with newly released titles. Some games push upwards of 6-7GB RAM. This alone will likely trigger a lot more data to/from the swap file which will just slow things down.
