I just found out this today.
Crysis 2, announced on June 1st, 2009, has been in development since 2007 and it will be the first game to use CryENGINE 3. Crysis 2 will be released for PC, PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360. No release date nor PC system requirements for the game have been announced yet. Crysis 2 is an EA Partners title and it will be published under EA Games.
For more info: http://www.crytek.com/games/crysis2/overview/
"Crysis Warhead is not Crysis 2 nor a Crysis add-on, it is a stand-alone game telling a parallel story to the original Crysis game. In Warhead you play as Sergeant Sykes, also known as 'Psycho'."
I hope they give us a realease date soon![]()

old news i believe
-
You mean everyone already knows this but me?

you still get REP for trying
-
Im pretty sure they had said early on that Crysis was going to be a trilogy meaning there is going to be a Crysis 3
-
What saddening about this news is that the game will be developed for consoles too.
Either Crytek will have to really lower the graphic quality of this game or, hopefully, they will just give the consoles laughably low details because I believe the reason they didn't release Crysis on consoles was due to hardware limitations. -
CryTek said it'll be developed for consoles because of the very high piracy ratio on PC and PC gamers should feel happy that there will be another Crysis on their platform.
It has been confimed that it will look slightly better than original Crysis at medium settings.
Anyways original thread about the new Crysis. -
too late....
and just like TevashSzat said, this won't be as good as Crysis and Warhead... -
-
poor coding and picking Nvidia Over ATI thus resulting 200-400$ GPU's -
For comparison, the Sims 2 sold like 15 million copies and Starcraft 11 million. Crysis is obviously that popular. -
It is possible that Crysis was that "popular" just based on the fact that many use it as a benchmarking tool. With people both downloading the game to use as a benchmark tool and for gaming I think it is safe to assume that the piracy ratio is extremely high, not 20:1 like stated by CryTek, but still high up there...
-
So do consoles start off with Crysis 2 ? How will they link the story ? Im SO sure theres going to be a major cockup
-
I still have Crysis Warhead in shrinkwrap.

Regarding it being on consoles, you have to remember that the CryEngine 2 was developed for PC, XBOX 360, and PS3. Crysis could have been ported to the console easier than normal; the engine behind it was already designed to compile for the console systems. So the fact that this time around they are compiling for consoles along with PC should not stymie peoples desicion to purchase the game.
I just hope the level editor is easier to use. I have big ideas, but can't figure the darn thing out. -
I will laugh so hard if it turns out really good for consoles, and somehow looks as good as it on PC. Then again, that would be a world where Crysis runs good only on great computers...
-
Dammit, wish they'd just leave Crysis to the PC... Still, I loved the first one, the engine is incredible. Been waiting for this news, lets just hope they don't "dumb" it down for the consoles...
-
How would they measure how many people pirated the games? I dont think they can accurately do that...
Also, I can understand people downloading it to a degree. How many people can be sure they can run the game? dont say the demo because that first little part of the game runs a lot smoother than the later parts -

Better save up for a really good gaming laptop to handle this monster of a game.

Don't mind it being multi-platform. I'd be a hypocrite to say otherwise as I myself hope that other console 'exclusives' get port over to the PC. However, it'd be great if Crytek didn't just emphasize on the console versions, leaving a poorly ported game for the PC.
3rd Crysis Game announced.
