Using a dvi to hdmi, dvi to mini displayport and an active dvi to displayport and still limited to 3 lcds. Does anyone know if both displayport adapters need to be active or are the mobile cards limited to 3? Thanks!

There are USB adapters that allow you to connect more monitors, but they're probably not good. The 780M and 880M should be able to support 3 external monitors and the laptop.

Some kind of daisy chaining should be able to do it, but it is monitor specific.

optimus may get in the way? IDK~~

The 8xxM series can yes, but your machine does not use the 8xxM to output displays, 3 is the max the HD4xxx series from intel can manage.

I figured my issue was the intel and optimus limiting me to 3. I have tried forcing the nvidia card to no avail and Ill look into some more settings, but this is one of the big reasons why im not a fan of auto switching technologies. I really do miss my t400 that had a switch feature that didnt even require a restart. Was very quick, easy and stable for switching between intel and the ati cards.

MSI use a setup on their GT models where the outputs are connected to the dGPU and only the internal and VGA go through optimus.

This allows them to power 4 displays at once.

On models with an HDMI and 2 display ports they also support surround gaming.

Well the 4 monitors is more for work then anything. I have done eyefinity gaming alot in the past and Im not a fan of it TBH. Really just looking for 4 LCDs for work purposes but its looking like optimus has foiled me yet again and Im back to 3. Shame that my hardware easily supports it but unless youre gaming its back to 3...

Still going to fiddle a bit and see, but Id love to see a manual switch feature in the future as my 2008 t400 thinkpad seems leaps and bounds ahead of whats coming out today as far as GPU switching technology. Right click and select the GPU you want and in seconds you are using the right card. Oh well 3 isnt bad, but I really was getting worked up about 4.

Well actually with the MSI you can use the multi head adapter for 3x 1920x1080 60hz screens on each of the display ports.

That means you can have 8 including the internal.
