How would this CPU perform for gaming?

    AMD A6-3420M

1.5 GHz AMD A6-3420M quad-core accelerated processor (2.4 GHz with AMD Turbo Core Technology; 4 MB cache)

Low clock, buy 4-cores... not sure if its good or not.
I would pair it up with an AMD Radeon HD 6520G (DX11)

    Thanks.

The CPU can be overclocked over 2ghz without problems so it can reach i3-i5 performances.
Btw the 6520g is a igpu. For a igpu it's very good. Only the 6620g found in an A8-CPU is better. But still it's just a igpu. :)

I have an a8 overclocked from 1.5ghz to 2.4ghz paired with a 6750m dgpu and it is sufficient for gaming at high settings for most games. The a8 contains an igpu that is a bit better than the a6 and when I have used it performance in games seems to drop by about half. This series is quite good at overclocking and I would recommend doing so if you want to get the most out of it. However the gpu you mentioned is not dedicated and will run new games at low/med settings. I would not buy it for gaming unless you can get a dedicated gpu along with it.

It's probably going to be more than a 10% difference. The 6520g has 20% less shaders and is clocked 10% lower. I'd guess around a 25% performance hit.

Hmm, I did verify against some benchmarks and it was about 10%-15%. Let me find them. It wasn't as significant as I thought it would be. 25% would mean running 22fps vs 30fps, and that's not the case that I recall. But I could be mistaken.

But then he would not be able to play games. ;(
Its either AMD Llano or Intel + AMD / Nvidia.

    Why?

    Passmark CPU Benchmark:

    3420M: 2284(and easily overclockable)
    2310M: 2618

The 3420M includes a much better GPU.

The intel chip (2310m) is dramatically better as a CPU than the AMD chip (3420m), and you would want to pair it with a reasonably powerful dedicated GPU if you went with that option.

But they don't put "a reasonably powerful dedicated GPU" with a i3, best you find would be a 6470m or 520m, which is marginally better than the a6 iGPU and worse than a a8 iGPU according to notebookcheck.

I locked my core i7 to that frequency! I faced a serious bottlenecks with my SSD! don't know about GPU though..
