Yep especially in WOW where fps is not as important as say in first person shooters. I would say about 40+ is decent for those types of games.

Yes in WoW 25fps+ is good but in first person shooters you definitely can tell a differnce between 25fps and say 50fps. Read up more on the topic.

There are tons of articles on the net just like this one.

Did it seem to run smoothly?
    Then it's decent.
Was it choppy? Then it's not decent. Simple as that. ;)

I have to say I agree with the comment that there is a HUGE difference between say 25 FPS and 50 or 60. I can't tell the difference between 90 and 60 FPS but when you are down in the 25-30 FPS range you'll notice soon enough because on a game like BF2 you'll be dead by the time you can ID the enemy.

Go for 50+ FPS on a FPS

50+fps for fps? Is this the minimum?

No, it's not the minimum. But you would like to play at 50+ FPS as much as possible for the best experience. Choppy FPS on FPS play is frustrating--unless you like getting killed a lot ;).

I would like to know where you got that info. I used to run CS:S at around 30FPS with my old FX5500. With my 6800GT, I get around 80FPS maxed out. And yes, the difference is HUGE. Even in WoW, you can tell the difference.

In tests conducted by the US airforce, pilots were able to see fluctuations in frame rates well above 100FPS, so no, that's not true.

I (even i think WE) can see the difference above 25fps very well. Some games will run good enough with 30fps, but a lot games need 45fps to run it really smooth. Above the 60fps i can't see the difference

I think there's something about the eye only "refreshing" ~30 times per second. But that doesn't mean faster framerates aren't noticeable. (Ever notice in movies how computer screens always flicker like crazy? That's what happens if a 30 hz device (the movie camera) tries to observe another device with similar refresh rates (the computer screen displayed). The same is true for the eye.

    or something like that. :p

Even 35FPS feels choppy in EVERY GAME!

For FPS games I dont settle for anything less than 60FPS.

I cannot feel the difference of anything over 70FPS.

Try this, Play a game @ 60FPS the immediatly play one at 40-.

when I do this It feels as though the 40FPS game is really @20FPS

I used to run FEAR combat on my old setup at 35fps.

It runs at 80fps on my new setup.

I don't notice much difference at all and wouldn't say it affects my ingame performance.

So as long as you're getting 35 or above you're fine. I find it hard to believe these people who claim 40fps is "a bit choppy"

sometimes 30fps can be noticable but it isn't choppy. Maybe you think it's choppy because you have vertical synchronisation off. It can irritate me when vertical synchronisation is off.

Havok, yes, I find 35-40FPS "choppy". I can deal with it, if it's BF2 and there's a BUNCH of things going on, but I don't settle with anything under 60FPS average. I am spoiled, yes, but why settle? "Smooth" means different things to different people.

Generally 'choppy' means that it breaks the illusion of movement. Movies manage to maintain that illusion at 24FPS. :)
