Ok.. I'm looking at two systems.. both almost identical.

    One has a 511MB 8600 GS and is ~$40 cheaper and is a HP (a dv9500t)

The other has a 256MB 8600 GT and is ~40 MORE and is a Dell (1720)

Which one should I go for (I did not post this in the "which laptop" section because I felt the whole choice boiled down to graphics)??

As much as I don't like Dell, it's a better deal because the graphics card is better. It's worth the $40.

yea.. im not rele a dell fan either, but the 8600 is a better card, even with less dedicated ram. plus the dell has higher Res.

well, from another thread I learned that the difference between the 8600 and 8400 was big, but I was not aware that the GT vs the GS technology was that much of a difference.

    Thanks for your help.
