At what setting and at what fps do you guys think a 560m graphic card can handle for Battlefield 3?
Love to get your guys input and opinion since no one know the benchmark for BF3 until it is release.![]()
-
I think you've answered yourself with your 2nd line....
so for being sarcastic: with some settings at high and a few at medium...
-
I heard some Dice devs bought some MacBook Pro machines when they where in the US.
(Swedish machines be expensive.)
They could play BF3 just fine. -
Well all those demo videos on youtube used a desktop GTX580 and according to them, the game wasn't set on all high.
-

Most likely it will be able to play it on medium at 1080p.
The 580m is similar to the desktop GTX560ti.
The demo was played on a desktop GTX580 and was not maxed out. -
They said that because they didn't max the AA. It was at 4x, but can go up to 16x. But all settings were maxed, with tesselation.
-
Are you saying it won't be able to run on high and medium? Are you sarcastic that it is negative or positive? LOL how cheesy
Wow, quite a finding there
Yea I just notice, good call
I am hoping so, does this mean that BF3 on medium is still better than Dirt 3 on ultra graphic wise? I didn't know that Nate, thanks now I can check out how the GTX560i is compare to my HD5850 desktop graphic card, thanks so much, I been looking for comparison for a while now
I am just so mind blow right now!!!! Oh gawk -
Nobody knows anything about how it will perform on any system because nobody has it. Until the minimum and recommend system requirements are released, all discussion relating to performance is 100% speculation.
-
That is why we have a forum, to discuss things that aren't 100% fact
Sorry not trying to be mean, I'm in a happy mood today
Yeah I know but it nice to talk about, I mean waiting for BF3 is a dreadfully long wait. I been waiting for years now, and the closer it get to release date, the painful it will be since it so close and yet so far kind of like reading a boring biology textbook
-
Biology is awesome! I loved reading my bio text: Freeman's Biological Science. Very good textbook.
-
LOL omg biology is so exhausting! It cool, hard, and I daydream too much
It so hot over here I don't make sense
-
How positive are you that the 580m is similar to the GTX560ti? Because if you are right I just check the benchmark and it is better than my HD5850! Well only 1fps higher on ultra on metro 2033 but man if a laptop can beat my desktop graphic card, a $600 dollar upgrade is well worth it!~
Please be positive Nate, I need to know for sure thanks -
It's GTX 560 Ti core, but clocked lower, so probably closer to a desktop GTX 560. The GTX 485 is essentially a lower clocked GTX 460 desktop.
-
GapItLykAMaori Notebook Evangelist
a 580m is way behind the original 560ti. The clock speeds are massive, they perform closer to a gtx 460 desktop. -
Mechanized Menace Lost in the MYST
Beta in september I will let you know how it is for me.
-
Nope, just ambiguous sarcastic
-
560 should run it on high just fine.
-
dx10, high, 1920x1080. 40-ish FPS.
Considering bfbc2 ran at 60+ FPS, it should be fine. Just keep away from dx11, or you'll end up with metro 2033 levels of FPS. To be honest, you'll also have some headroom with the settings, as it could just be a minor drop in FPS for high settings. Either way, you probably have nothing to worry about. -
that is disappointing, I guess there is still no laptop GPU that can be compare to my desktop HD 5850 yet.
I waited a year later from buying a laptop hoping that within that one year time frame, that my soon to be gaming notebook could be better than my gaming rig that I build. -
According to notebookcheck, the GTX 485m is equivalent (to a degree) to the desktop 5850 [I wouldn't be surprised if I was wrong though].
NVIDIA GeForce GTX 580M - Notebookcheck.net Tech
Data is on the right pane, not sure how to pullup just that data.
Thus if you can do a system with at least a GTX 485m card, you'd be equally if not surpassing your desktop. However, PRICE is a different matter.
-
You are actually wrong unfortunately. Comparing game benchmark, some games are 50/50 but top games like Crysis, Crysis 2, and Metro 2033 the HD 5850 is much better than the 485m. For example, the 5850 fps for Crysis at Ultra is 30fps while the 485m is only 23fps, which mean you can't play Crysis on Ultra with good fps. I did a lot of research.
-
Don't make me have to fraps Crysis on Ultra for you to prove you wrong...
-
Too bad then.
Either way, there's the Alienware m18x with dual 6970m. That should work
-
Here is proof: side by side comparison of all games tested EVER and it actually 32 fps for the 5850.
Computer Games on Laptop Graphic Cards - Notebookcheck.net Tech
Unfortunately the link only show all graphic card instead of the two I check dam. -
I would never buy Alienware EVER, especially now that it part of dell. And also that is dual (crossfire) which don't count.
-
Mechanized Menace Lost in the MYST
There is nothing wrong with Alienware laptop's. I have one and can honestly say it is the best laptop I have ever owned. Why does crossfire not count btw? Also, You should take scores from Notebookcheck.net with a grain of salt especially the game FPS section which also says that a 4670 is better than a 4870, but that is the furthest thing from the truth. Have you ever owned an Alienware? Since Dell has taken over Alienware their systems have gotten better. A 485m is far better than a 5850M btw.
-
How come they should be taken with a grain of salt? Are they not accurate?
There is nothing wrong with Alienware but it price, and not to mention IMO their notebook design is ugly. Your pretty much paying the premium for cool lights and the Alienware logo along with all the cool extra that Alienware has to offer.
I was considering an Alienware but after doing countless research, Sager is the best bang for your buck. Also Alienware are behind in technology. Also I don't want people to know that I have a gaming notebook and the Sager look the most professional like. -
Could get a SAGER w/ dual GTX 485m
-
Karamazovmm Overthinking? Always!
yep the x7200 -
Mechanized Menace Lost in the MYST
Yah, the FPS scores are not always accurate a 5850 is not better than a 485m. I will respect your opinion, but Alienware's have become cheaper since Dell's ownership and are not that rediculously priced as they used to be. I wouldn't say they are behind in technology, just slow at it. -
Which doesn't make them the best. Don't get my hope up but we are comparing a desktop HD5850 to a laptop 485m, and your saying that the 485m is better than the HD 5850?
Do you have any evidence in this? If so i feel like a kid in a candy store. -
Ok, I see Crysis on Ultra for 485m at 23 fps and 5850 at 13 fps.
edit: nevermind, you're looking at desktop 5850... In any case it's close competition.
-
How do you figure it was close competition? It is not, one run at 23fps while the other run at 32 fps, that is close to a 9% increase for the desktop graphic card. That would mean playability on Ultra vs on High.
-
One game, perhaps. Across the board the 485m beats or is comparable to the 5850 in a majority of benchmarks. I did a benchmark of Crysis, but link is broken for some reason. I'll find results, but iirc it was in the 30's.
In any case why are we talking desktop 5850 and crysis when topic is 560m and Battlefield 3?
Bad Company 2 = 52 vs 60 fps which is more realistic to BF3 comparison. -
I am not sure where do you get this 9%. From 23 fps up to 32 fps it is a 39%!!
-
Mechanized Menace Lost in the MYST
No, the desktop 5850 is better than a 485m which is comparable to a GTX 460. I thought you where comparing it to the mobility 5850. -
32 - 23 is 9 so 9%????
Yeah I thought so, I was hoping you would disagree with me
-
(32-23)/23 = 0.39 or 39% more.
-
I was going to point that out, but I thought I'd leave it to the universe.
-
Basic math FTW!
-
^ Yay!!
-
Maybe this is why he couldn't figure out which one is faster...
Just kidding, but honestly have we answered the question yet?
-
[email protected] Notebook Consultant
Well I would say that if you can't max out BC2 with 60 fps at native res, then there is no way in heck you are playing BF3 on high. Most likely low/medium for the 560m.
-
I flunk Basic Math~~!!!! in grade school
-
I'm dumbfounded on how you support yourself and manage to purchase these computers unless your loving wife or husband supports you financially
-
According to this NVIDIA GeForce GTX 560M - Notebookcheck.net Tech You can play it on high at around 70 fps, assuming they bump up performance I'm guessing you will be able to play medium graphics at 60 fps or so and low at 80

He's only like 15 years old!

I am to

Aww shuck that was like 10 years ago... Btw there are other alternative to support one self, just need a little bit of creativity
