Errr the sli 560m is about the same power as a single gtx 580m

I would still go for the 6990m

I wouldn't bother with a SLI system to be honest.
Too expensive, and too much heat production.

Going with a single 580M or 6990M would be more than adequate if you ask me.

well, between the two, the 580m's are more powerful hands down, but many here agree it is pointless to upgrade to that when the 6990's in crossfire are almost EXACTLY the same with the 580m's (the 580m's are a tad bit more powerful though). if you have the money, buy the 580m's, but if you wanna save, then go with the 6990's in crossfire.

A single 580m is a tad bit more powerful than HD6990m though the HD6990 has better crossfire scaling, thus in dual cards, I think the CF setup is more powerful.

As awesome as dual cards sounds, I think I will stick with a single card for now heh.

They're so close in performance that it really comes down to:

#1. Specific games that you play that may be grossly optimized for one or the other
#2. Cost (AMD wins hands down here)
    #3. Brand loyalty
    #4. Preferred drivers

Hmm ..thanks for the advice.. I think ill go with dual 6990s the since the cost difference is about 900 bucks in a lappy..

im thinking of getting a origin laptop.. the only other problem im haveing is wich cpu to run with! hexa core or quad.
