I'm deciding between the GT683DXR and the SagerNP8150
1) How is the 570m compared to the 485m
2) What is the power consumption of the 570m and 485m? Will I get much better battery life with the 570m?
3) Should I just get a 560m and save $.

Baka believes that 570M is slightly weaker than 485M and since you're taking up high end cards anyway, battery life difference won't be much. You'll still need to be plugged in to even last over an hour.
Baka also suggests 560M if the price difference is alot ($300+) though the 560M is noticably weaker than 485M and 570M and won't last you as long as the other two.
It depends on the games that you play and whether you're picky on playing on high settings -
I can watch movies on battery for almost 2 hours with mine (specs in sig).

-The 485m at stock clocks is indeed slightly faster, but its close enough where the overclock almost every 570m gets to by simply moving a slider reaches into stock 485m range.
Let's face it... its close enough where the other features of the laptop and the price should be more important.
The 560m is a solid GPU, but not really in the league of the 570m or 485m.
-Battery life for the 683R (560m) was around 3.5 hours while watching a DVD movie.
-The 683DXR with the only difference being the 570m is expected to shorten that figure, but not by too terribly much.
-I am not sure where Baka gets battery life numbers as quite frankly, all three of these examples will last longer than an hour doing almost anything. For most tasks they will last well over 2 hours, and at least for the 560m and 570m can last over 4 if you use max power saving and are simply taking notes.
One thing of note, the 683DXR is 15" AND supports two hard disks and an optical. (the 8150 can have two hard disks, but gives up the optical to do so) This is why the 683DXR is winning for me. -
Plus the MSI sound system is just superb. I cannot go back now
My battery has lost like 22% of its charge due to heavy use. It still lasts 2 hours doing stuff.
GTX570m is the way to go in nvidia laptops because it overclocks well and packs a good punch. the jump from GTX570m and 485 isnt as big, and the 560m is quite weaker compared to 570 etc. -
Thanks for your replies,
I meant the power consumption when in idle use (power saver mode)
Does anyone know what PSU comes with the 683? Is it 120w or 180w?
570m vs 485m
