can anyone tell me if there really is a huge difference between a quadro fx 570m 256MB card and a 8600GT 512MB card. i will probably not be using this card to play games so does the amount of memory matter.
-
256mb of memory is all you need. The 512 mb of ram 8600 Gt's is Gddr2 and therefore it performs about 20 percent slower than the 570 256mb.
Btw, even at high resolutions on the latest games, there isn't any difference between 256mb of ram and 512mb of ram (based on an 8600GT desktop review I saw on hardocp.com). -
so what is the purpose of having the extra ram on the video card?
-
afeni23, the mobile 8600m has 256mb of dedicated ram + whatever else comes from the turbocache option. how did u come up with that 20% less conclusion?
-
-
my bad, didn't know that
-
Ah yeah now I see the top chart is for desktops. -
i already took that off, the chart for mobile version was right below the main one and it did have the gddr 3 on it...
p.s. seems like people r trying to catch other people's mistakes to look better than them, right? -
as far as we know G1 has got 8600GT DDR3 not DDR2...
-
Yes, the G1S and G2S both have GDDR3 memory.

no, i'm just saying that in general. was he right when he said "512mb ram of 8600gt is ...."?
570m vs 8600GT in terms of memory
