Ok so everything is running smoothly with my clocks as per my signature. I changed the TIM to IC7 2 weeks ago but as of yesterday when I stress my card I get although quiet a whine from the card under load.

I understand that this can be the caps (capacitors) as they heat up under load.

My question is do I need to worry about this? Does this mean the card is on its way out? Should I repaste again? My temps are fine and I replaced the thermal pads with brand new ones and now my temps are pretty much even all 3 idle at 54oC with my current 25oC ambient temp and reach 87oC extreme burn as its roasting here at the moment. Normal temps are 49oC idle and 82oC extreme burn in.

I have 2x 5870m in my m17x. The only thing I can hear is air rushing through the fans when I stress the computer. My temps are also peaking on 82c like yours, so if it was heat related, I would have had the same whining sound.

My cards are running at stock speed, so try to run on stock aswell and see if your problem still remains.

I think you have a reason to worry about this. If you have warranty left make asus replace that card.

Those temps are not dangerous btw.

No its not a problem the capacitors do whine when under load and its common in some GPU's when you overclock as im pushing the clocks in my sig.

Its just strange that its only just started doing it when stressing with Furmark only when im gaming at full load there is no noise. Im curious if this could be because my sudden increase in Ambient temperature because it was not doing it a couple of days ago and summer has just appeared out of nowhere :)

EDIT: It only does it when on Dynamic camera on Furmark :/ how weird.

If this only happen when you are running furmark it should be ok. ;)
I would not recommend you to run furmark too often though. Furmark heats up your computer fast, and is followed by a fast cooldown once you turn it off. This can result in damage, as the matals expand and contract.

Edit: I highly doubt it is the ambient temperature causing this.
