Hey there, I have had this 5870 in my M15x now for like a month or so and it is great, I have tried a little bit of overclocking, keeping the same ratio between core and ram clocks, but is it safe to overclock the core more than the ram, since it always is alot lower temp than the ram?( yes I plan on getting thermal pad sheets at some point for the ram) normally, during bad company 2, overclocked to 770/1100, the core is in like the high 60s maybe and the ram is in the high 70s sometimes going up to 82, but rarely. The GPU is downvolted to 1.05v. How much more can I over clock the core than the ram, and will I get any real performance boost? Are there certain graphic options in games that utilize the core more than the ram? thanks

you can oc the core greatly, you should be able to go to 850 and more on the core if the temps are good.

oh great thanks inap
I would +rep you but you are the last person i did that so i am not allowed to.
after you said that I tried 850/1100 and the driver crashed, then i tried 800/1050 and the driver crashed again, so maybe I need to flash a higher voltage, like 1.10? a while ago I think you said you could help me with that, so if you think that would help, then please tell -
Yeah if you want I can make a bios with higher voltage for you. But prolly be tomorrow, 1.1v should be good. Let me know what you want the clocks to be.

i keep my clocks at 800 core and 1100 memory running on a g73. dont want to burn the gpu. i have tried 850 on the core running furmark but the drivers crash running that high.

normally the clevo cards are at 1.15v stock. So they can oc a lil better but it all comes down to the thermals. But 800 core is a good gaming clock. But I recommend keep your current clocks and voltage since you seem to be getting good temps, upping the voltage will rise your overall temps.

alright thanks guys. thanks for that OCCT program, before this I never could tell how stable it was until the driver crashed! I think I will just stick with 1.05v and see how high I can get.

i would say 800/1100

I currently have it at 835/1080 at 1.05V stable (long gaming sessions, 99% GPU usage, furmark)
at 1.15 you should be able to get at least 880/1100 -
you can raise voltage in smaller increment on my 4850 going from 1.05 to 1.06 allowed me from 500 to 650 core clock
and the clevo and dell cards are built diferently the dell version can reach 900/1200 i'm not sure but i havent seen a clevo sothe fact that the clevo run default at 1.15 does not mean you should cram your voltage up to 1.15 rught away -
Well I run at stock 1.05v with stable 880/1030 clocks. My temps are usually under 80, around 76C but with winter kicking in, I am under 70C lol.
I can actually game at 900/1030 but it starts to get driver inestable, with semi freezes in some games. I will try to raise the voltage but not until I can get my 180w PSU. Sadly I can't raise the memory more than 1030 as it gets really unstable. Luckly under 1920x1080 resolutions, memory hardly matters over 1000mhz so core really brings out the performance. -
got 800/1100 with G73.. don't want to go higher... temps stay pretty much the same under load compared to stock...
5870m clocks
