I have really bad problem with my Geforce 6400. Its 64 dedicated and 64 shared.

When playing games they crash after 15-60 minutes with a blue screen or a lock up. I have tried the latest drivers as well as older ones but no difference whatsoever.

I brought it back to PC World, they basically looked at it and said there was nothing wrong with it and it would have to be sent back to sony. I'm pretty sure Sony will just look at it, see it running for 5 minutes, and decide its fine before sending it back.

I googled it online and there are LOADS of people with the exact same problem as me with this particular card so its clearly a design fault and not just my particular laptop. I told this to the guy in PC World and even showed him printouts of various forums and he dismissed them saying I could have made them up

Has anyone encountered this and would anyone have the faintest idea what the heck is wrong with the 6400 turbocache in sony laptops?

it sounds like it's just overheating
you could either open it up and clean the fan, re-put on the heatsink with artic silver, or you underclock your card
both should work, although opening up might void warranty

Yeah I could but why should I bother? A 4 week old Sony Vaio should not be overheating....I shouldn't have to degrade my performance just because the 6400 is shoddily designed*

*I say this because there are dozens of people having the exact same problem, blue screen after anything btween 10 minutes and an hour of gaming.

Try getting a laptop cooler to bring down temps. Just to make sure, did you use the latest drivers from www.laptopvideo2go.com as opposed to from the Sony site?

I have been having other issues with the Ge Force 6400 Go, but new drivers (modded) do not help in any way.

I think the card itself has problems, since I am unable to resolve them

I used the latest drivers, tried omega, forceware, etc, using the modded inf's, made no difference.

I don't want a notebook cooler - if drivers can't fix it, then I'm writing a strongly worded letter to Sony, its only a few weeks old, its not justifiable to have to use a laptop cooler or resort to underclocking it.

i agree with you, but if they (CS) don't help you, you might have to resort to one of the aboe mentioned ideas
