found a fabulous deal I think for this laptop for about 610 shipped but I am concerned about the performance of the 64bit 7600 it has, what do you guys think?

For $610 I don't think you have much to complain about but we would like a few more details as Badjer noted - what are your needs, budget, and so forth.

Despite having a 64-bit bus the Go7600 will outperform a Go7400/X1400 with no problem.

ok I am really wondering how much worse the 64bit 7600 is compared to the standard one, its tough finding information on it. I have been trying out various laptops and have gone with 17 inches mostly for performance versus cost. what I have found out is I want a good balance of everything, price, size, performance. the 17 inchers are too heavy, but I don't want to pay crazy money for say a new 8600gt 15.4". this laptop seems to be a good compromise of everything, I was just concerned that the graphics card while looking good as a 7600, that it was actually way underpowered.

If I had to guess you're probably taking a 30 - 40%+ performance hit vs. the standard 128-bit Go7600. The 64-bit memory bus has half the bandwidth of the 128-bit so it is a big deal.

    Like I said though, the 64-bit Go7600 will still outperform a Go7400/X1400.

would you say this is a better deal than say a everex xt5000t for arround 750? and worth it for the price increase over a thinkpad r60 with a core solo t1300, x1300, 512mb and 40 gig hard drive for 350?

I'd like to have a link to this $610 machine so I can take a look at it. The Everex StepNote XT5000T is perhaps the best price/performance notebook on the market.

I wouldn't touch anything with a Core Solo, and an X1300 is a low-end card.
