So this really isn't a "what notebook should i buy" thread so much as i'm just confirming this is a good idea. Is there any reason why i should not get the laptop quoted below? I know the 675M is a renamed 580M which should play newer games on somewhat high detail with our without an OC.
I've quoted out an MS-1762 (GT70) with these specs for less than $1100
i7-3610QM
675M
8GB ram
500GB hd
I'm going to sell the ram and hard drive to recoup cost since i have an SSD, extra hard drives, and ram.
I just bought a bunch of car parts and going to be buying more in spring so i'm not letting myself buy anything more expensive. There is nothing even remotely comparable to this laptop in this price range. Is there any glaring problem with the 675M besides it's older? Is there any reason why i shouldn't do this?

Looks like a great deal, as long as you are happy with the display (hopefully 1080p) and the size/weight of the chassis.

Excellent deal!! PC games are so gimped nowadays the 675m is more than enough.

WELLLLLLL i did it. I figured it was as good of a deal as i thought it was. I bought two, one for me and one for my wife.
Thanks for the input guys -
I have gtx670 in my laptop and I can play games at medium/high
675 is better than that -
Solid deal

Nice choice, I'm sure you'll be happy.

I have a 675M and I am very happy with it's performance. The only options you have that perform better are 675MX, 680M, or 7970M. Aside from those three GPU is the best performing single GPU you can get. The 6990M is just a few percent lower overall then it goes downhill from there.

Also, whenever I see your avy I yell FUS RO DAH in my head -
no, i am pretty sure 675=580m, no changes at all, both 620mhz core and 1500mhz memory
