I installed Far Cry 3 yesterday and wasn't happy with the performance I was getting even on low settings. I saw a bunch of videos on youtube with identical GPUs and configs who are able to run the game on High, so I'm not sure where my setup is lacking.

    Info:
    CPU: Core i7-2630
    GPU: 1gb 6770M
    RAM: 6gb
    OS: Windows 8 Pro
Driver: ATI 12.11 Beta, fixed mode GPU on BIOS

Is there a reason why my system is underperforming? I remember playing Max Payne 3 and Mass Effect 3 on high and at native resolution (1920x1080) but struggling with Hitman Absolution (on low/medium) and Far Cry 3.

    Thanks!

What level AA you using? Could be poor driver/game coding, thats the setting which even grinds my 680m to a halt on the sims 3! I get 21FPS on everything high, but if I turn off AA, get back to 60-100FPS

Windows 8 is notorious for inferior performance in gaming, and even in benchmarking. If I were you, I'd try switching back to Win 7 before trying anything else

I highly doubt that. FC3 is a very demanding game. The 6770 was a mid-range GPU at time of its release. Your dual core CPU is holding you back some as well.

I get acceptable performance in the game by running at 1280x800 resolution, no FSAA, and a mix of medium and high details.
