I am stuck between purchasing a dv6t and a malibal lotus... the hp with the 6770m and the malibal with the GTX560M I know i will only get about 3 hours of battery life from the malibal which is not enough for my school needs. so now how big of a difference will i see between these two cards when it comes down to playing games... i may just spend the extra 200 bucks from the hp and buy a second battery for the malibal unless the differences are marginal in which case ill just keep the hp

In some games, 560M doubles the 6770M FPS, in others 560M and 6770M are close in FPS, and in others 560M has a 50% increase. If you're really on the go, and this is your main gaming rig, I would go for the Malibal. If you can maybe buy a desktop to use as for gaming, I would do that. But if you need more than 3 hours of battery life for school, then I would get something with more because education always comes first in my book :)

Maybe post in the "What Notebook?" sub-forum? They are very helpful!

The 560m is significantly better... 40%-ish better in most benchmarks which means its in a completely different league.

The 6770m is not a bad GPU, its just not the same calibre as the 560m.

Note, both when I was at college and here at work, most people do fine on 3-ish hours of battery life. Most of the positive uses for laptops on battery in college don't really pull that much juice. (notetaking, occasional internet references, writing a paper somewhere quiet, etc.)

Unless you are positive the extra battery juice is worth it, I'd say the 560m is head-and-shoulders better for gaming.

560m is fast by a quite a margin. but 6770m will do most games on medium settings so it depends on your personal preference.

Lol in college I had only 1 hour of battery. Having 3 hours of battery out of a gaming notebook now is amazing.

Its not like there are no power outlets on your college.
