so a buddy of mine got a dv6-6173

    EDIT:

i am now concerned with why im getting such low performance out of the card it self. the 6770m is set to FIXED mode in BIOS and in CCC set to high performance mode. yet still most games run slow and choppy. should i be using AMD drivers for the card. or should i be using HP drivers? there seems to be come confusion there.

Because he's in fixed mode. That option only exists in dynamic mode to tell the computer which GPU to use. In fixed mode the GPUs don't automatically switch so you just have to set the active GPU.

He is probably trying to run BF3 off of the intel integrated GPU. There should be an option somewhere in CCC that allows him to activate the AMD one.

well. CCC was set to high performance. when we went back dynamic mode. every time we tell CCC to run bf3 in high performance mode and click apply. it defaults back to "not assigned".
