I had asked some questions about how to get me to a satisfied state with Battlefield 2. And basically it came down to upgrade RAM to 2 Gig's and Videocard.

Now I know that you guys said that the 6800 would run Battlfield on High settings. Well I don't really want to get the 130 W PSU and the Northbridge heatsink, (have the 9 cell battery) and flash my bios, So I guess the Ultra is out, but my question is if the Geforce 6800 Go 256MB Enough to get those high FPS and good looking textures?

On a side question does BF2 support Widescreen Monitors? It seems like it is all stretched when I load it up with my X300 (even in the menu's not just gameplay)?

You won't have any problems with that card.

I run BF2 at maximum settings on my 256MB X700, 1280x1024 resolution, with zero issues, normally 40-50FPS. That is on my external monitor - when I am using my laptop's display, I run at 1400x1050, still getting high 40's framerate. No issues.

2GB of RAM is definitely worth it for BF2, a lot smoother.

BF2 does not support widescreen at default, but you can easily edit it to do so - just google it. Basically all you do is edit the command line.

add this into your command line:

    +szx 1440 +szy 900

You can change the numbers to fit your resolution. Thats what I have my bf2 at since i dont have the XUGA display.

On a side note: I dont know if this is pertains to my display only but when I put everything on HIGH settings it seems like the game plays slower but when ran on an external monitor it plays alot smoother. I'm guess its the refresh rate on my laptops display.

Thanks For That. I don't have the UXGA either so that fits perfect for me!

is it just me or does changing it to widescreen still look stretched?

my guess is that since widescreen resolutions are not supported by bf2, forcing a widescreen res would just stretch the graphics out as opposed to providing you a wider field of view.

Chazman are you kidding me? You're playing BF2 at those settings and resolution on your laptop?

DAYAM, I want your friggin' x700. I can't play it at those settings even on my desktop with a Geforce 6800 overclocked.

dayam...I am kinda picky with FPS games though. Unless it plays at something higher than 50FPS or even 60FPS I lower the settings.

Oh yeah you won't have troubles with that videocard.

    Cheers,
    Mike
