Can anyone with either of these cards run a benchmark for me?

My system with have the i7 2630QM(MAY upgrade to the 2720QM...MAYBE) in it with 8GB of RAM

Would be GREATLY appreciated and I may even give out e-Cookies! :S

Reason for request is because if I can pull off Ultra settings on the 6870M, then I see no need in spending the extra $150 since WoW is the only game I will be playing.

Anyone who can shed some insight would be greatly appreciated!

    Thanks in advance.

People play WoW on Ultra DX 11 in 25 man raids with the 5870M. But the 5870M seems maybe more powerful than the 6870M, but the 6970M definitely can.

I would guess the 6870M is fine.

But WoW players are different than FPS players. When I was raiding in WoW now almost 3 years ago, I was using a 7700M and playing with 25 FPS and never had any issues with lag etc and framerate was plenty smooth. But if you are looking for 50 FPS, I'd go with the HD6970M. The Sandy Bridge should help with WoW a lot. But I think you will be fine with the HD6870M or the GTX 460M/GTX 560M.

Yeah, I know the 6970M can definitely run no problems at all, just didn't know if I may be able to scoot by with the extra $150 for a 1080p screen.

Go with the 1080. The difference between Ultra and Medium are minimal. But you should be able to play with a mix of Ultra and High with your 6870M. 1080p res is more favorable than all Ultra IMO.

Especially with WoW, the more you see in higher texture and detail, the better. Sacrifice some of the shaders for 1080p res, more than worth it.

Would I be able to switch out the 6870M later if it doesn't satisfy me?(Talking about an Alienware M17x, so IDK if its capable of switching GPU's or not)

Upgrade the GPU to the 6970M, but leave the CPU at i7-2620QM. The 2720QM only has a 10% speed advantage, which won't benefit a gamer in any way. It's a waste.
