    Good Evening NBR.

I am looking for some opinions not necessarily advice but also do not want to get into a bidding war on what Thermal Compound is best please.

I currently use ICD for all of my applications and have done for a while, recently I picked up my Clevo with the 6990M and can comfortably run her at 850/1100 while gaming and it does not breach 90oC with ICD applied. With stock compound it was messy to say the least. But I have noticed that ICD does leave a mark/stain on the copper and I am considering switching as it also raises my idle temps.

I was looking to experiment with MX4 and Shin ETSU to attempt to lower this as I am a temperature junky and repasting is a common thing in my life :D

I wouldn't mind some information on any other compounds on the market even the top end costly ones I am in the UK mind so may have to import it but can any others with the 6990M also comment please.

Hey Yiddo...I'm a fellow temp junkie lol

MX-4 is good. OCZ Freeze is good, but the best i've ever used is Prolimatech PK-1, Currently both my CPU and GPU are pasted with PK-1 to outstanding temps

    Thanks for the response ;)

Main reason I got a Clevo is to speed up the repasting process :D

Haven't heard of this but the results speak for themself may give it a go, I was thinking about picking up some OCZ freeze and MX4 anyway could you comment on how thick the TIM you mentioned is?

The PK-1? Its extremely easy to work with. Not thick at all. No where near ICD thick. MX-4 and Freeze are very easy to work with also...i would say medium thickness. The easiest to spread for me is AS5, but that paste is really outdated now and doesn't work well unless you have excellent contact between die and heatsink

If you look at my CPU guide (sig) you can take a look at the pk-1 paste

Just about to order one last question do you spread the paste or apply using a pea method? I prefer the pea you see I dont have a lot of luck with the spreading.

i use the pea method...well, more like the rice method lol

For the 6990m, i just put a dab in the middle and my temps after 5 mins of furmark is 67c (so it worked)

For the CPU, because its rectangular, i used a slightly altered pea method...here is the pic:

    Excellent long-term stability; Non-electronically conductive; Non-corrosive

    non-electrically conductive, non capacitive

The only major selling paste that is slightly capacitive that i know of is AS5
