my dv6000t gets really bad fps.... and i tryed to get new drivers but the ones windows found made my proformance worse... so i rolled back my drivers... then i got some off of laptopvideo2go.com and that was horrible... i got about the same fps rates then i restarted my pc and every thing went down hill no program that used video worked right so i rolled back to orignal dirvers but the nfo file was still moded so i did a system resore... that fixed every thing back to factory settings.
Here are my fps rates and settings....can you guys tell me if these are normal

oblivion - low settings 640x480 resolution and it gets about 15-20 fps all the time or if i look at a dark wall it will go up to 200

battlefield 2- i cant even play this game because i randomly lagg out and freeze because it uses almost my whole gig of ram and the game settings are at 1024x768 with all of the settings on high gemoitries on medium and lighting off and on low when i wasnt lagging out i got between 30 -50 fps

counter strike source- 1200x800 model, texture, shader, and shadow settings all on high. water simple reflections. color correction enabled. AA off. filtering trileniear. vertical sync off and hdr off. i get around 105 fps to 60 fps

counter strike 1.6- 1200x800 32 bit mode i get a constant 60 fps... but if there is a smoke grenade i hit around 30 fps... then go back to 60 when i dont see the smoke anymore

lord of the rings battle for middle earth- 1024x768 in any mode the game runs ok but in ultra high /high the game tends to lagg or seem alittle jumpy when you scroll around

F.E.A.R combat- 800x600 low settings for all lighting and physics medium for textures and models i got any where from 30-60 i believe (cant test to besure because i keep getting cd key verification errors)

Dark messiah- 800x600 and 1024x768 i got around 20-35 fps with all settings on low and medium..(changing between the two didnt do much for fps) (cant check to be sure becaues i uninstalled this game and it takes about 2-3 days to download)

call of duty 2 with the 1.3 patch- i get any where from 30-the high 80s in direct x 7 mode in 1200x800 with map resolution's on normal and texture resolution on normal. no soften smoke edges. no AA and bilinear filter

Farcry - 1024x768 23-100 (130 when looking at a wall) texture- high. enviornment- high. shadow quality-medium. water quality-high. AF lvl 2. partical count medium. special effects qualtiy medium. lighting quality medium. No AA

warcraft 3- no lagg at all 1024x768

is this kind of proformance normal for the laptop in my sig or is there somethign wrong with my pc?

The first two are a bit low. I don't know what to tell ya metal, did you try the Omega's out? I did get a couple of random crashes and even a BSOD with BF2---typical memory addressing silliness. The rest look about right, though if you could report your min and avg FPS on de_dust and de_dust2 that might lead me onto something. Right now, those two maps are giving my system fits, with my fps dropping from 100+ on other maps to ~30 on those.

P.S. Try tweaking FEAR by turning shadows off entirely and moving the other details up.

Oblivion is not known to be the most smooth-running game. Also, BF2 is known to be a RAM hog, so your 1 GB of RAM is likely slowing you down a bit.

But your FPS don't seem alarmingly low to me. Your go 7400 actually seems to be doing rather well.

I would upgrade the ram if possible, close unwanted processes/programs that may be running in the background. Then just play around the settings and see what you can get.

They seem good, but they don't seem that much better than what I get with the comp in my sig? And that's kind of weird, because your GPU can kick my GPU'S arse. Maybe you should try going into Nvidia Control Panel, going to Powermizer, and when it is plugged in change it to Optimal Performance.

Some of those titles you have your settings too high, which would contribute to chokage more so then ram in intense situations.

I use the 84.12 drivers, best performance for me so far on my Go7400. All the screenshots in my Go7400 thread were taken with them.

What it all boils down to is you are going to have to play with the settings until you figure out the ideal balance between playable performance and visual eye candy. Oblivion is a very poorly coded game as posted. Even top-of-the-line desktops stumble on that one.

on fear i did have shadows off and then on bf2 i tured all settings down to medium and i think it was still usingto much ram so i guess the only way to play that game is to buy a 1.5 gig or more ram for my pc and then for oblivion i guess i just cant really play it.

for source chaz i get about 50-90 fps if i remeber correctly... when i go to a lan tonight ill play it and report back with what i get.

as for the power mizer settings its already set to optimal proformance when im plugged in.

its good to hear some reassurance about my card though...

I think with more RAM you'll see bit of a performance boost in the newer games. Just don't expect night/day improvements.

As I mentioned before, I'm actually quite impressed with what your go 7400 can do with the newer games you're playing.

With a 7400, you can't really expect smooth sailing when turning on any "extra" features like HDR or shadows. Even 2xAA might be too much. Given your specs, you are getting the expected performances from those games.

with CS 1.6, and vsync off, set your fps_max to 101 and change your resolution to 1024x768 (I use 800x600)

More ram is ideal but not necessary for BF2. I only have 1Gb as well, and I have no problems playing at 1024x768 with filtering on high and pretty much everything else on medium except AA which is off. Easily get 30-60fps without any problems.

In CS: S, change the reflections to "Reflect All" because your system can handle that, and turn Color Correction off, that is essentially useless.

Your framerates seem to be awful low for CS 1.6 though, that game is more than playable on even integrated Intel graphics.

I just got a Dell XPS M1210 with the same video card. In all seriousness, don't expect the 7400 to do extremely well with the latest and greatest games, since the 7400 is not the latest and greatest graphics card. You're going to have to fiddle around with the settings in order to get appropriate performance.

I only have WoW installed on my laptop and it runs fine for me (30 - 60fps).

I have a 7400 and I find it extremely impressive. I do play at 800x600 because I don't notice much difference except smaller text at higher resolutions, and since I am at 800x600 I can do medium-high on all newer games.
