Is there enough of a difference for the added price? I would only use it for games such as bf2, bf2142, and fps's, such as halflife 2.

    Many thanks,

    Cobainy

The 8600GS nicely outperforms the Go7600, and does slightly better than the Go7700. However, as DX10 programming in games becomes more prevalent, then the 8600GS's lead will increase. If you plan on playing any future games (next 2-3 years) then go for the 8600mGS. Otherwise, the Go7700 should be fine for you. I would, however, not recommend the Go7600, unless you have to get it due to budget constraints.

Which notebooks are you looking at? I also recommend going with the 8600M-GS because it is the better performer.

I'm pretty sure you can find some relatively cheap notebooks with the 8600M GS or GT compared to laptops with the 7600 or 7700. The Compal IFL90 is definitely worth a look. It has an 8600M GT and can be easily equipped for around $1500.

actually the 7700 would perform better than the 8600 gs on most games.

the 8600 would be about the same as the 7600 go in todays games according to 3d mark.

Where are you getting this from? The 8600mGS is supposed to get around 2700 3dmark06 points, similar to the Go7700. Plus it has DX10 support, so it's lead will increase with time and DX10 programming.

Overclocked it gets 2700, which is around the same as the 7700 go stock.

It overclocks more than the 7700 go which overclocks from 2600-3100

it does have dx 10 support. It would be smarter to get a 8600 gs gpu in a notebook all things considered.
