Hey everyone. I tried overclocking my 7600 from the settings in the nVidia control panel. The core clock is 450Mhz and the Memory clock is 380 Mhz. I clocked it at 467/429 and applied the settings. I noticed that every time I exit the control panel and re-enter it, the settings revert to 450/380  . Is there something I'm doing wrong?

either the settings arent being applied right, or you have oc'ing disabled. You have a powerful card why oc it?

I just wanna gain some extra frames in Doom. I get around 30-45ish frames which makes me want to chuck this machine out the window sometimes lol

Here you go, my friend. You'll need to download RivaTuner (just Google it). Once you have it installed, you're going to want to open the program and in the "Main" tab, click on "customize" on the tab that shows your video card's specs. Then click "low level system settings" and check the box that says "allow enabling hardware masked units". a window will come up, but just click ok.

And that's it. You can use the overclocking abilities in RivaTuner, or just use coolbits. Tell me if you have any problems

Overclocking the 7600 series isn't worth it.

The most you'll get are maybe a couple of frames, which is barely perceptible in regular use.

And I can't fathom having framerate issues in Doom 3. On my A8Jm at 1280x800, no AA, High Quality, the game's silky smooth and could easily have detail bumped up.
