recieved my zepto about a month ago. all i really play is WoW and BF2. BF2 on medium and WoW on max.
but BF2 my game has started to mess up. when i click join game to start loading the server or whatever is going on, it minimises itself then when i maximise it the colours are all wrong and the game is v slow. also in WoW sometimes the game just crashes and my comp is restarted. when it had finished restarting today after crashing in WoW i got a message saying my comp has recovered frm a serious error, so i did error report and it said to update drivers or manually decrease hardware acceleration in my video adapter, ths has also hapened once in BF2 but i did not get the error message until today after quite a few crashes. im assuming both games dont like my drivers which came with the laptop.
do you think drivers are the problem? anyone else had this problem with WoW, BF2 or 7600? if i need new drivers where should i go and how should i go about installing them?
pls help i waited so long for laptop and now is dying!!!!![]()

Update the drivers.
Either check on Zepto's website, or grab the standard ones from NVidia's site.
Also, right click on My Computer, go to Properties -> Advanced -> Startup and Recovery, and uncheck the Automatically Restart button.
Then you'll get a good old blue screen of death when an error occurs, which can help you diagnose what's going wrong. -
i have just read some stuff about omega drivers, wat is special about them compared to standard drivers?
edit: just looked for zeptos drivers, followed links to my laptop-> nvidia vga and got this page: ftp://ftp.zepto.dk/Znote6615WD/nVidia VGA
the date with them is 25/07/06, these seem correct to me, but should i use other drivers because of the problems i have had with the nvidia drivers on this and my old desktop? -
its a bios problem if your card has 512 mb and nvidia are working on a fix
-
yes i also read that thread you are referring to juan kerr, but im not sure, seeing as microsoft said it was video card problem and i have had similar problems before on my desktop that had driver problems. or maybe im in denial hoping it isnt bios problems. this is confusing, i am really starting to hate computers. thought the laptop would be the end of my computer woes...
edit: oh well, WoW is calling to me, i cant put it on hold just cos it might crash. -
ok that was a bad idea. i got a different type of crash now, one that i have had once before with BF2, only this time it crashed after about a minute with this message stuck on a blue screen, but didnt restart itself:
"HW malfunction
call hw vendor for support
NMI: parity check/mem. parity error
-system halted-"
agghhhhhhh!!!!!! wat is wrong this peice of ****!!!
i am scared to play games any more, if i cant play games i just wasted a lot of money on this thing. -
Did you turn down lighting to low in BF2 as suggested by Zepto in the other thread? Apparently that should fix the problem...
-
the crash was during WoW, sry i should have made that clear.
-
Which drivers are you currently using, latest from nvidia site? If I were you i'd try both those omega that people have been going on about, aswell as the ones from the zepto site. That parity error message seems to be in line with what people have posted before about the 512mb problem. I think it's just an issue with the drivers not being able to deal with assigning data to memory as they are not programmed to deal with 512mb.
Anyway, all is not lost just check the other drivers for the meantime and when nvidia sort their s*** out, your laptop *should* run faster in games, especially BF2 as it'll make better use of the extra vga memory.
My $0.02... -
ok thx everyone. i guess i will just hav to fiddle round with different drivers for a while, i hope these crashes arent causing any damage to my laptop during this period of testing. if that dont work i guess i will have to talk about zepto about getting rid of this thing and getting something with an x1600
-
Try giving http://downloads.guru3d.com/download.php?det=1464 a try, as it says it is a geforce go driver so could be of help. Let me know if you manage to sort this problem out as I was planning on getting the 6615WD, but would like to play BF2 and this doesn't fill me with confidence
.

I had occasional "parity error" bluescreens early on with my 6214W, unitl I turned off "spread spectrum" in the system BIOS.
The 84.56 drivers at www.laptopvideo2go.com have also been working well for the last couple of months. -
ok new driver hav stoped crashes in WoW since i installed them a few days ago, but BF2 still messes up when i click join game, with the wierd colours and not being able to actually play once i press join game. so i reinstalled BF2 and still it does it, does anyone know what is wrong with my laptop that i cant play BF2, i used to play quite a lot and now it stoppped working?!!

Did you install all the latest patches for BF2?
-
yes 1.3 is installed. i know its installed because i can see all the servers.
-
Maybe turn everything off/low in bf2 and see if that helps. If it does, slowly increase settings to isolate problem?
This sounds really weird and have never exeprienced something like that when I used to play BF2 regularly, or heard of it. Maybe its to do with the resolution if you've got it set to diff then native. On a side note, did BF2 run on mid-settings with native resolution with no probs before you strted getting crashes?
Since WoW has fixed itself with new drivers i'm pretty sure its just the driver issue that nvidia are in the process of fixing. As you must of heard BF2 is extremely poorly coded. e.g one of the *patches* caused memory overflow(or something similar). -
yes for a while on BF2 i ran medium no probs, and i tried high and it wasnt bad. this is why im so confused, something must have happened to my laptop recently for it to stop playing BF2.
BF2 doesnt support widescreen, or at least i cant see any widescreen res in the options menu so i cant run it at my native 1680x1050. i have been previously running it on 800x600 which is the lowest, and it has big gaps either side of the game screen, whereas my friends x1600 stretches it to fit the screen.
so all in all, this is crazy, and incredibly annoying.
edit: btw kris dont let this put you off getting a 6615wd, 'cos BF2 has run on high, as i mentioned, and only recently stopped working so my feeling is that this is an isolated problem. the 6615wd is great apart from this incident, and looks way better in the "flesh" than in the pictures as well. -

hmm, that doesnt sound too simple to me, sry most of that page really confused me. i find when i start reading bout code etc i get a bit lost.
-
Looking forward to purchasing the 6615WD I checked out BF2s widescreen capabilities before. In your game shortcut put "+menu 1 +fullscreen 1 +szx 1680 +szy 1050" (without speach marks) after your .exe location. That should work. Radar and hud might look a bit stretched, but game should look better.
-
"C:\Program Files\EA GAMES\Battlefield 2\BF2.exe" +menu 1 +fullscreen 1 +modPath mods/xpack +ignoreAsserts 1.
that is my shortcut, just wondering if anyone thinks there is anything unusual in it, seeing as kris brought up the subject. maybe there is something in there that can hint at my problem.
also kris where exactly should i put in this text u suggested? is there anything that needs to be deleted to fit it in? -
I don't think so, not sure what ignoreAsserts does, but just add the "+szx 1680 +szy 1050" and it should work.
-
With regards to the problem in BF2, I heard that turning the lighting down to low sorted out someone else's problem. -
yeh i read that thread too and that didnt work, as i said, i have played the game on high before on this laptop.
7600 problems, big problems...
