I am thinking of getting a laptop (hp envy 15 or 17) and I am wondering about the real world performance of the cards and how they stack up to each other.
Is the 7850m significantly faster than 7750m? If so how much faster is it?
I saw people claim that 7850m is about as fast as GTX 660m while other say it is as fast as 650m. Which of the two is the truth?
Thanks

7750M = 650M
7850M = 6% faster than 660M, 11% slower than 670M.
7870M = 670M (for reference)
Those benchmarks were run before the new Catalyst 13.1 drivers which boosted performance significantly (honestly they were run 2+ driver revisions ago, each of which made HUGE performance boosts to the Radeons).
Based on old AMD drivers, here is order of performance, slowest to fastest:
NVIDIA GeForce GT 650M - Notebookcheck.net Tech
AMD Radeon HD 7750M - Notebookcheck.net Tech
NVIDIA GeForce GTX 660M - Notebookcheck.net Tech
AMD Radeon HD 7850M - Notebookcheck.net Tech
NVIDIA GeForce GTX 670M - Notebookcheck.net Tech
AMD Radeon HD 7870M - Notebookcheck.net Tech -
the 7750m are my scores with 12.11b4 drivers. I havent installed 13.1 yet but they should help scores. as for stock clocks what sublime said is correct. the 650m can be OCed a great deal tho but HP has locked it down on ours. 7850m is a bit faster than 660m but after OCing they arre about par -
its nice to know that 7850m is faster than GTX 660M
so how much faster is the 7850m compared to 7750m exactly in games? -
If you look on those I believe the links have benchmarks for a variety of games for each card.

The 7850m is a great card. If you type in 7850m on youtube you can see a ton of videos in which you can see its performance. It can play almost all games on high/ultra in 1080p.
