I just flashed my 7900gs with GTX bios 600/800, it worked fine and i got 5054 in 3DMark06 which i think is good score, but i have two quetions, what is the safe temprature idle/load? and what is a good software to monitor the temp and works with vista?
system spec:
Inspiron 9400
Intel Dual Core 1.6 GHz
2 GB RAM
80GB HDD 7200RPM
thank you.

Here's a link to a thread by Gophn about monitoring GPU temps.
The program he uses, RivaTuner, works with Vista.
and the common idle temps 59-60*C on autofan, 48-52*C on max fan (clevo's).
You'll have to offset the temperature on RivaTuner tho so it won't show the exact temperature only an estimate due to the offsetting. -
how did you know the GS would take the GTX bios? Do you have a link, can I flash my 7400go to something else.
-
damn those are incredible high clocks for a 7900gs
But i think your cpu is getting a bit a bottleneck for 3dmark06 now (only a bit)
-
Use I8kfanGUI, allows you to monitor your fan too. My load temperature never went above 78 that is with high room temperature and bad vent. Ususally load is at about 72-74. and idles somewhere around 50. I wouldn't use ur clocks as a long term solution, it is apporaching the dangerous levels. Also the v-mod might be an overdo for the GTX, try using something like 1.05v instead of 1.24.
PS, my temps are without the v-mod, yours should be much higher. -
bad news i used I8kfanGUI and the temp is way to high, its 58/65 idle and 86 load
, so any recommended clocks for 24/7?
-
You can't flash a go7400 with a 7900 bios because they are two completely different GPUs. Go7900gs is a stripped version of go7900gtx with disabled pipelines.
-
When using I8kfanGUI, your GPU temperature is off by 8C, so add it to that in advanced options. that will give you a whopping 94C, not too good even for just benchmarks. I use my at 480 1100 with no v-mod, the temperature stays around the same as the stock bios. Many people used 1.05v with great success, so you could try this with your clocks and see if it works.
-
i will try 1.05 but what is the best way to do this?i ean to set the voltage?
thank you. -
Download Nibitor, load the bios, then using the voltage table change it from 1.24 to 1.05.
-
I use 1.05v with my 580/740 overclock. Unfortunately if you have a single pipe card it'll run very hot when overclocked, even at 1.05v (instead of 1.24v). I also have a cooling pad and a desktop fan that blows air into the vents, which helps alot.
-
so they didn't laser cut the 7900's pipe lines?
-
I think the pipelines are cut, by flashing 7900 gtx bios, u do not unlock the pipelines.
7900GS flashed and scored good, but i have questions
