What works for a lot of people, wanting to flash their BIOS, just about hosed my friends 1705 at work. We got his system back up but he is really spooked at this point.

He burned the 7900bootrev5 iso and f12 to boot off the cd. The cd went about installing cd drivers and “cwsdpmi” and something about a mouse driver??..his words.

The process locked up twice trying to install proper ASIP cd drivers?

Dave gave up and rebooted his 1705. He got about 15 error messages and “cwsdpmi” cannot run errors popping up repeatedly. Now Dave’s major spooked and so calls me.

After trying three times we get system restore to fire up but no restore points!?! Finally Dave sees that the clock has been reset to 2097? We reset clock and pick a restore point from early that day, reboot, OK now.

From what I can gather Dave had MS Windows Defender and AntiVir running prior to restart and something got bent during the boot rom process. I'm fishing here :)

What am I missing? I haven’t read any other problems or totally missed them in other threads.

    TIA
