    hi
i cant seem to find any 14-15 inch laptop with a 7900gs card...i could only find 17" ones....are there such laptops in existence or is it just too much to stuff a 7900gs in a 14-15.4" laptop.
    cheers!

Cause it doesn't exist, you've already answered your own question. A 7900GS, or potentially the 8800GT in a 15.4" is just asking for a nuclear meltdown.

The cooling system and space needed will make the notebook incredibly thicker. The ASUS c91 could 'perhaps' have it, though details are as clear as mud.

    At the moment, yes.

However, there are tons of new 15.4" notebooks with the 8600GT, which will be faster then the 7700, but not as fast as the 7900. They are the ASUS G1s, Compal IFL100, and I'm sure there will be more, just not announced yet.

actually, the 8600M GT gets 100 more MT/s in fillrate tests than the 7900 GS does.

In just about every other test, the 7900GS is at least a little bit faster than the 8600MGT though. Over the summer, Asus will make a 14" with this card under the A8 or F8 name (not sure which, I'm assuming A8, but I have seen the latter thrown around too)

I really want to try putting a Go7900 into an E1505. It seems like a really cool experiment to try that hopefully wont explode in my face. Or melt my laptop. That would suck.

A Go 7800 GTX has been instlled in a Dell E1505, and the system did work. If you search on the Internet, the procedure for doing it can be found. On the negative side, battery life went down and the core of the graphics card had to be clocked down to reduce the heat output, so the cooling system of the E1505 could handle the card. But, in theory it should be possible to do with a Go 7900 GS, seeing as though its much more power efficient.

The biggest problem for a 7900GS in a 15" notebook is not so much the cooling, but rather the battery. There's simply not enough room to place a battery big enough to keep you from running from outlet to outlet.
