Probably almost maxed out. The 7900 is one of, if not the best, GPU out there for notebooks outside of SLI. At WXGA+ you should be able to max out every option and get playable framerates.

FYI, I don't think the integrated sb software does much from what I have read. Might want to read around on that. 7900GS will be great!

Be aware that the Audigy sound upgrade is just that, software, and while it does make a difference (greater volume & clarity) you are still dealing with integrated sound. If you have a need for a more powerful sound solution, consider a USB-based option. You should have very few issues with Oblivion, it looks like a sweet rig.

Your rig is very similar to mine, you wont be able to run everything completely maxed out, but most sliders will be near max. At max settings and 1920x1200 res, you will only be able to get around 15 fps... wait a minute, ur just getting the XGA+, so, you might be able to get 20 fps. On my rig, i flashed the GTX bios to my GS and overclocked it slightly, I can run everything at absolute max at 1920x1200.

Agree that you won't be able to max everything out, but that shouldn't be a problem. There are some good tweaking guides out there that will tell you what you can minimize without losing quality. Shadows and grass are just a couple...you'll have fun experimenting to see what they do.

I have 2 7900GS cards in SLI in my notebook...but often find that just one card is more than enough.

I have the 7900 gs, and I've had nothing but problems with Oblivion, well to be honest, any video game out there. I know it's entirely the drivers, but I've tried everything from nVIDIA's drivers to the laptop manufacter's. I even installed my os a couple of times, and nadda. But it's going back for other reasons.

Now to the point: I've got the GS with 2 gigs ram and the core 2 duo@ 2.16 (160HD, blah blah blah) I run the game at 1900X1200 with everything MAXED! I get awesome framerates everywhere except for the forest areas where it can get really low during battle. But for travel, it's more than acceptable. I can't use HDR lighting due to the issues with my setup (it crashes within the first 5 minutes) but while it's still running, it looks like a million dollars. But bloom lighting works great until the textures start leaking. But that's only my setup that seems to have issues.

All in all, it's an awesome card dude. You'll love it. I can't wait to get my new computer back (getting the current one exchanged, issues, issues, issues...) Enjoy your new toy!

    -Cheers

p.s. As for USB sound, get the Sound Blaster Live! 24-Bit External USB Soundcard. It really kicks butt. The integrated soundcard with the SB software upgrade is worth it I think. I have it, and it gives you some software that helps you exploit the cards capabilities without having this extra wire, box and speakers (practical for coffee shops, and laptop ideal circumstances). But the external card, is your best bet for anything that needs a 5.1 setup or ASIO. I use it for sound production and it works wonders.

A 1920*1200 resolution screen has around 2.3 MP while a screen with 1440*900 resolution has 1.3 MP (megapixel). That means that the videocard will have to calculate almost 2 times more. That means that the FPS will not go from 15 fps to 20 fps but from 15 to almost 30 fps (which is more then enough to make this game run smooth).

The 7900GS is a beast, configured with a Core 2 Duo and 2 GB of RAM it will surely play at 1440*900 with HDR on, all slides max and maybe with 2x AA and 8x AF. I am saying this because a member plays Oblivion with it's X1800 256 MB and 1 GB Core Duo 1.83 GHz at 1440*900 with HDR. The 7900GS is much more powerfull then the X1800.
