I know that 7950GTX can run DX10 games very well in DX9, but can the 7900s run DX10 games well, as well?

The 7950GTX is a DX9 card, meaning it can only run DX10 games in DX9 mode. The same goes for the 7900GS, but that card is slower.

A 7900m GS would run games a tiny bit better than an 8600m GT. It would be close, and the favor will probably shift toward the 8600 as time passes.

So yeah, the 7900m GS will run games pretty well. Most current games will run medium-high. Next-gen games will be medium, etc.
