    Hey guys,
What does the 7950gtx compare to in terms of performance in the desktop cards? I can not seem to find much info about gaming performance of the 7950gtx, but if you tell me what desktop card it is near to, I could just look at that cards performance. Thanks.

I'd say around a Geforce 7900GS. The Go 7950GTX is a pretty powerful card.

I'd say its comparable to the 7900gt or x1950pro.

    The [mobile] videocard in question:

Nvidia Geforce Go 7950 GTX (512mb)
    Vertex Pipelines: 8
    ROPs: 16
    Textures/Clocks: 24
    Pixel Shader Engines: 24
    Core speed: 575 mhz
    Fill Rate: 13800 MTexels/s
    Memory Bus: 256-bits
    Memory Type: GDDR3
    Memory Speed: 700mhz
    Memory Bandwidth: 44.8 GB/s
    _______________________________________
:D Desktop cards that can CLOSELY compare: :D

NVidia Geforce 7800 GTX (512mb) (very close)
    Vertex Pipelines: 8
    ROPs: 16
    Textures/Clocks: 24
    Pixel Shader Engines: 24
    Core speed: 550 mhz
    Fill Rate: 13200 MTexels/s
    Memory Bus: 256-bits
    Memory Type: GDDR3
    Memory Speed: 850 mhz
    Memory Bandwidth: 54.40 GB/s

NVidia Geforce 7900 GT: (slightly slower)
    Vertex Pipelines: 8
    ROPs: 16
    Textures/Clocks: 24
    Pixel Shader Engines: 24
    Core speed: 450 mhz
    Fill Rate: 10800 MTexels/s
    Memory Bus: 256-bits
    Memory Type: GDDR3
    Memory Speed: 660mhz
    Memory Bandwidth: 42.20 GB/s

NVidia Geforce 7950 GT: (extremely close)
    Vertex Pipelines: 8
    ROPs: 16
    Textures/Clocks: 24
    Pixel Shader Engines: 24
    Core speed: 550 mhz
    Fill Rate: 13200 MTexels/s
    Memory Bus: 256-bits
    Memory Type: GDDR3
    Memory Speed: 700mhz
    Memory Bandwidth: 44.80 GB/s

And the specs of the Geforce 8600 Ultra [which is the only 256-bit mem interface 8600 card] would be very close in performance

    ATI:
    - X1800 XT
    - X1900 XT
    - X1950 Pro
    _____________________________________
    Conclusion:

The mobile 7950 GTX is an extremely fast card, and even out performs the next-gen 8600's [probably except the 8600 Ultra, which is close]. It should last VERY long for anyone's gaming purposes.

Thank you for the responses everyone...great info! Is the 8600 ultra that you are referring to a laptop part coming out in the near future...or is it a desktop part?

Last I checked, desktop. Also, ATI's high end offerings can't touch this nVidia beast.

There probably will not be a 8600 Ultra for the notebooks, especially in any notebook under 17"... the power and heat would be devastating to smaller/mainstream notebooks... I could be wrong [it would be nice to see this in a 15.4" notebook] :)

Any word on the 8 series dx10 cards coming to notebooks? I am hoping to put a 8800 in mine if they ever come out.
