    Hey guys,

Going to purchase a Sager notebook from Power notebooks. The price of the two 7970m's in Crossfire is great compared to two 680m's, but two 680s are out of my price range.

I need to decide between two 7970m's and the one 680m, but I have had a very bad experience with ATI desktop cards in the past, (heat and drivers) and have since been using Nvidia cards.

I guess I need to know if the 7970's already have a bad rep since they've been out for some time now. I would like to trust ATI, but VERY scared to take the leap again... the price is almost worth taking that chance, but I'd like to hear more about the reliability of this card, especially in Crossfire.

Also, are Sager laptops (from Powernotebooks.com) a recommended choice around here? Thanks all!

Better if you take the P170EM with a single 680M

Dual 680M or 7970M is an overkill on single 1080p display

But hardly anything stays an overkill for long..

7970M Crossfire user here. Complete satisfaction at the moment despite a fair amount of initial anguish. I do believe that new users who jump on the 7970M bandwagon will have it easy since most of the problems have been ironed out by now and performance has been properly optimised (some 5/6 months after the card's release).

At the moment Sager and Alienware are the only dual-card solutions and I suspect that Alienware will be more expensive any day of the week. I used a Sager myself for years and totally loved it.

That is good to hear... just what I was hoping to hear actually. I'm glad they ironed the issues out.. Are there more issues with new game releases and having to wait for new drivers with the 7970m, vs the 680m?

I hope to not have to wait a month after each game for it to work properly.

Had my clevo 7970 crossfire for 2 weeks with no problems on stock drivers,It's a powerhouse!!! the 680m's are way overpriced imo.
If i had the money at the time for the 680m's id still go for the 7970's cuz i dont like wasting money.
