So I'm new to the forums, and I'm planning on buying a Sager NP9170 with 7970m, but I can't decide whether to buy it now or wait for ivy bridge to be released. I'm also pretty new to gaming laptops in general. My current build is about $1,680 and has an I7-2670QM.

I've got a few noob questions about this laptop.

    1. Would it be worth it to wait for ivy bridge instead of buying now?
    2. Will a 2670QM bottleneck a 7970m's performance? (I was thinking about upgrading to a 2760QM)
    3. I've seen pretty positive things said for the NP9170 on this site. Are there any other brands that give a better product for around the same cost?

I'd wait for Ivy Bridge if I were you. It's only a matter of days now.

    It's a no-win if you buy now.

The 7970M won't even ship before IB hits, so it'd be rather hard to get the 7970M with SB even if you tried.

Ditto... Ivy will start shipping around the 29th. 7970 sounds like it won't start shipping till middle/late may.

it's always ideal to wait, but if you really need a new laptop, then don't wait for it ;)

Always waiting = no Laptop today. If you already have a decent gaming rig then it might be worth waiting. If not, the 7970 is a great deal. Go for it.
