Which drivers are working the best for sager/ clevo at the moment? There are too many different opinions floating around on too many different threads. What has worked the best for you and why?

The betas were working, but now I have a very serious issue on my hands with those... Catalyst has stopped working. I've tried re-installing and nothing.. So be careful, none of the drivers seem stable.

i think for the time being, stick with the Clevo 8.951's ... the performance isn't as good in these but at least they should be stable in the Clevos.

however, many have had success with the 12.6.9 modded beta's running p150em's and p170em's

    AMD Catalyst 12.6 9.00 BETA June 12 – 7900 MOD – BenchmarK3D

As far as Alienware and MSI, almost all regulars on this forum (M18x, M17x and m15x users, and the two MSI's running 7970m's that i know of) are running the 12.5 7970m modded beta's. The link is in my guide

I've done so much over the past 24hrs. I just couldn't bare to start from scratch. I've done so many installs/re-installs. I'm at my limit.. I'm holding out hope the situation resolves itself soon. The most important thing right now is I can run my games. I just don't have the power to customize.

these drivers are showing some pretty big gains in some games.

I've gained 3-4 fps in Crysis 2 ultra with high res textures
Benchmark3d has reported a 10% increase in Skyrim
Nbr member Speedy Gonzalez just gained 15% on the Crysis bench

THey are looking good for games, but the 3dmark11 scores are lower with these drivers

To be honest I'm quite the computer noob. i know more than the average joe but this is my first real gaming machine (DS x15e) and this driver stuff confuses me like no other. So I know this is off topic but can someone help me out, in laymans terms, with what to do to my machine once it arrives? Any essential software or changes I should make right away? My hardware is as follows: i7 3610QM, 7970m, IC Diamond, 8GB DDR3 1600MHz, 750GB 7200RPM HDD. And again, sorry its off topic, feel free to link me somewhere.

I took slickdudes advice and used the drivers that came with the laptop, then opened the 12.7 beta, went 'custom' install, and then the list comes up, and i just chose 'display driver'

Seems to work fine. Better stability in most games, few fps drop in metro 2033 possibly.

They (12.7) just installed for me directly over the default Clevo drivers that came on the cd.

Edit: Spoke too soon and jinxed it. The installation indeed went fine, but 3d mark 11 now crashes :(

If you want to check if your card is performing well in games then you can try Maxpayne 3, Witcher II, Crysis, Skyrim, BF3 etc.

Except for Witcher II and BF3 the rest of the games should run fluently at 1920x1080 and ultra.

BF3 should run at around 30-40 fps with the latest drivers at 1920x1080 resolution and ultra settings.

Witcher II at stock clocks should run at 1920x1080 resolution and high settings fluently.

so far i am on 12.7 and perdormance is slightly more stable than stock clevo driver. 30-60 fps on ultra, but spmetimes go all the way down to 20 FPS and lower for a few seconds then goes back to average... thats not playable for me. my gtx 560m at low settings and overclocked was getting 45-50 fps no myter what map or server... when i play low settings on 7970m it still bounces around 20-60 fps.

Are you playing with vsync on? AMD does a terrible job with vsync. Even at settings that give solid 60+ fps without vsync, with it on it jumps around horribly.

vsync on or off it doesn't matter, the fps is never stable even on small close quarter maps, it only stays at 40-60 at ziba tower but on other cq maps it goes all the way down to 20 fps.

I agree, the 8.951's are the only ones I have had no trouble with. I thought the leaked 12.7's were ok for a while, but they don't overclock as well as the 8.951's. I can get to 960/1520 with no problems, but on the other drivers (beta, modded, leaked), I can't get past 950/1450.
So for now am happy with Clevo's drivers....

I had huge driver issues w/ the GPU drivers for my 7970m had to reinstall windows and try new drivers/restore windows multiple times, can't be good for the lifespan of my SSD :p haha.

It turns out Eurocom sent me

    .868

    instead of

    .951

    which most people are using...

I'm trying .951 now, tried the 12.6 and 12.7 and they didn't work... lets hope .951 aka 12.3 works...

You have to install in a specific way. Install the drivers fully that came on the cd, including catalyst and everything else. Then proceed to choose the custom option in the 12.7 install, and just select the driver, installing it on top of the current driver. This is the current method that works for everyone in the Clevo boards.

just download the one directly from clevo just to make sure, and when you update the driver from stock, only install the amd driver from "custom install"d don't install the whole thing from the new drivers...

OK but usually when I install catalyst my system goes haywire and BSODS or doesn't load past the "windows starting" screen that goes before login...

    I'll try this method tonight.

Does it matter if I install windows updates all first or should I do them after?

None of this worked for me. I also get a BSOD like satchmo67.

This is ridiculous. I don't know if its hardware or software related but everything else in the computer will run PERFECTLY before I install the drivers for AMD.

If I install the AMD/intel VGA drivers from the clevo disk it BSODs or black screen w/ restart required.

If I install it and then get it to restart safely then try games they don't load or it crashes, if it restarts fine then I install beta drivers only the display device over it it BSODs.

If I install only the beta driver 12.7 12.5 12.6, any of them, it crashes.

    !!!

    -_-

I just got this 2 days ago and have been trying to fix this since then almost 24/7

I've been waiting MONTHS. Ordered May 1, waited since March for a new computer and the 7970m/3610 to come out

    -_-

    Help me plz?

These drivers are better than the others; I can install them and then restart my comp without crashes. BUT, when it restarts the catalyst says it doesn't work. And I have to disable / re enable the 7970m driver. And after that BF3 won't load; and Diablo 3 only plays off of the Intel 4000.

    Hmmm

Enduro is basically a bug right now, it's not even running right even on AMD's own official drivers (not that AMD drivers have been unproblematic in the past :D ) They need to release a driver that will run it right, then it just might also fix all these unstable performances with most games.

That actually happened to me, too, in my first (and only other attempt). Instead of fidgeting with it, since I had nothing else installed, I just did the Windows recovery to the date I received the laptop. I was getting kbsync.exe or whatever error.
