I'm not able to change any of the clocks in Afterburner. Is there some secret button I have to press? =p.

You need to use this little program: Vbios Patcher - releases & changelog
Download it (don't forget to rep SLV 7 on here for making it)
Then feed your vbios into it and modify the 3D clocks and voltage and save the vbios. Restart and flash the new bios. Done.
Remember you can also undervolt using this program so very useful -

Just follow the guide for OCing with Afterburner. Do not use the drivers he links. -
Cool, thanks. I'll try to do it later. People have had success with 950/1400, right?

with 12.7 drivers?
-
yes with 12.7 beta
-
So I just realised that my 7970M idles at 0.82V and under load is at 1.00V. Reference stock voltage is 1.05V, correct? Could 0.05V be why my core will not go passed 930MHz?
I wonder why Sager would undervolt the card for the NP81XX series. -
why everytime i restart or turn off the alienware,my overclock back to default ??
and why in the middle of the game my alienware always freeze ??
i overclock at 950/1400

Just to be fair its VbiosPatcher and not slick dudes tool. Svl7 , Chmod1337 and one more teamed up to make that software. Just giving credit where its due.
-
If its like mine try clocking it way down. I had freezing when clocked to high to. People see benching scores and clocks and expect to run them. It doesnt happen unless your Slickdude and have a golden card lol. I am crash free on stock volt at 880core. If you keep crashing keep lowering it. We all would like them to be uber but if you want to stop crashing your clocks are just to high.

i didn't know anyone else made it...going off of a post a few pages back

But another thing that I have seen is that some 7970's work better on 1.075v. This is just an observation as i don't normally recommend overvolting
Another thing I've noticed is that Clevo restricts the 7970m's to 1.00v underload? A few people have told me this now. AMD lists the stock voltage @ 1.05v -
how to check the real time voltage and clock of 7970m in clevo?

my clevo is normal 1.05v

So far my 7970M is the only card that I've seen that operates at 1.00V under load, however this may have something to do with what Sager modded on the vBIOS to make these cards compatible with the HM series machines. I've emailed Sager looking for an answer to this, but have yet to receive a response. Also waiting for other HM users to get their hands on the modded 7970M cards to see if they also have lower load voltages.
Seems to be a waiting game right now. -

Yes, that is correct. So far the max I've been able to push is 930/1525 @ 1.00V. Even if I lower the memory, going beyond 930 core isn't possible at the moment.

Just did a 3dMark11 run with an updated system BIOS (which includes new fan profiles apparently) and @ 930/1525 my temps were 69C max, up from 62C on stock clocks.
AMD Radeon HD 7970M video card benchmark result - Intel Core i7-2720QM Processor,CLEVO P170HMx score: P6402 3DMarks
I just did a FurMark extreme burn-in run as well at 930/1525 for 10 minutes and max temps were 83C, up from 81C on stock clocks. Yeah, she runs cool. -

i think you probably have a good card too wallzi. i bet you would get close to Slick if you use 1.05v i think those clocks are good for 1v

Very good indeed! I haven't OCed mine yet but I would be happy to achieve such values
If I can run stock at 0.95V stably I can live in hope.

Nice score kingpin! you'd be over 6800 if you weren't using the 12.7's
-
Kingpinzero ROUND ONE,FIGHT! You Win!
Yeah i guess youre right, since mostly 12.5 vs 12.7 is 200pts of difference.
Its cool anyway.
Dunno if i keep the 1.075 flashed tho, maybe it helps stability at my stable oc under bf3 (920/1500).
But its cool to see my card reaching 1ghz on core, never thought it was possible.
Also did 2 vantage runs with scores above 23660, all good. -
Ran Furmark earlier in a 1080 burn-in at 950/1400 clocks.
FPS min/max/avg: 14/27/24
Flatlined at 80C for the last 5 mins of the test. Ambient temp here ~21C. Apparently it's set at 1.05v, so I think I could OC it higher if necessary.
I really, really like this machine =p. Thanks for the OC guide Slick, but what's the reason for having to go into the registry to change that one value? -

ULPS stands for Ultra Low Power State...this isnt what you want if you are overclocking...So set your EnableULPS to 0 to disable this. You will need this set if you want a reliable and constant power stream to your card while overclocking -
Kingpinzero ROUND ONE,FIGHT! You Win!
Slick, a question.
I've been disabling ULPS since a while but I didn't in 12.7 beta.
I didn't noticed any problems with it enabled so my question is does it really counts having it disabled?
Currently giving the crippled 12.7 beta OC ability I'm able to stay stable at 920/1500 (touch wood) so I want to know if that helps my OC or not.
Bear in mind that so far I've seen successful reporting of people disabling ULPS only in Crossfire, while no documentation or proof about disabling it on single gpu.
I just want some solid proof or Infos about it, since I think it's a good thing for single cards.
Thanks -

Its just designed for those who ULPS is preventing MSI AB from working at all.
-
Yea until I disable ulps AB shows 0/0 for clocks
-
Kingpinzero ROUND ONE,FIGHT! You Win!
I see, well clocks show up correctly with MSI AB with ULPS enabled here, but I guess is because I'm using 2.2.1.
-
My particular issue is enduro bound
-
I'm gaming at 950/1375 and loving enduro. Watched a full 1080 movie with screen brightness 100% on battery. And later played 30 minutes of BF3 and checked out how gorgeous Crysis 2 would be on Ultra and 30 minutes of MP3. No slow downs, no stuttering or hiccups. Loving it.
-
SlickDude80 Notebook Prophet
i know with many, Afterburner will not let you overclock the 7970m until you do this step. I'm using 2.2.0 -
-
Kingpinzero ROUND ONE,FIGHT! You Win!
Just checked my values are set to on, as I didn't touched them since 12.7 beta installation.
Im using 2.2.1 btw, but 2.2.2 gives me the 0 clock issues you stated.
Dunno if it's a bios feature or the laptop itself that makes it useless, lol. -

Then compile a list of installation procedures, settings, tweaks, and driver versions -

on stock clocks, at the beginning of metro when you're attacker i have 42 fps, at 930/1440 (can't go more and it's useless for me) i am at 47 fps, so more or less 5 fps more...
7970m...how high can it overclock?
