Not really.. That's what Nvidia has alwaysbeen doing.. Selling off defective 7600GTs as 7600, 6800 Ultra as 6800 GT, by disabling some pipelines... MAkes business sense, and pandrs to the geeks in us who try to unlock the cores. :p

Just letting you know, the 8600m GS in the HP is GDDR2, which means it will be clocked at 500/400, which is significantly lower than my samsung which is clocked at 500/700.

Oh! So sesshoumaru DID respond to me.

Well, It's not quite the same thing. The 7600 and the 7600GT are both still G73. Having a certain GPU (G84) and writing as another in the drivers (G86) is not quite the same thing.

I should be getting it very soon. Although to your question, I don't really play those types of games. Heck, in a matter of fact, I pc will blow if I tried those games.(look at my current spec in sig)

On a general note, I'll post a thread on the Sony forum on the laptop.

That's the original INF. You need to download the MODIFIED one. The LV2G drivers supports ALL recent nVidia GPUs (except for 7150)

a 8600 is better either way, but the GT is better than GS.

After reading through this thread I understand that the 8600GS performs somewhat better than the 8400GT, but that difference isn't really big.

However, I was wondering, is there a big difference concerning the heat the 8400GT and the 8600GS produce? I'm currently doubting between two laptops and want the one I can hold the most easily on my lap.

    Thanks for your insights!
