nope. it is close though. the 8400m gt is just slightly less powerful than the 7600. the advantage is that you can find it in smaller, more portable notebooks than you would find a 7600. also- the energy consumption is significantly lower - (in line with the 7400 series)

I believe that the 8400M GT is better than the 7600 and is on par with the 7700.

My benchmarks (no-overclocking):
3dmark05: 4615
3dmark06: 2632
PCmark05: 5613 -
8400 does DirectX 10 also, right? (not that that matters yet...)

3dmark is a poor indicator of gaming performance, especially across generations of tech.
however, the mobility gpu comparison thread *stickied* is a very good indicator of gaming performance.

8400m gt is just slightly less powerful than the go 7600 / x1600 gpu. however, it is considerably faster than the 7400 / x1400 gpu's from the previous gen. -
well i have a go7600 and lemme tell ya i dont think ive ever scored under 2000 with 3D2k6, whether it be default or 1440x900 or 1024x768. i doubt the 8400m GT will be faster but more like midway between GS and go7600
8400 better than 7600 nvidia?
